A list of high fat, low carb foods.....

I would sure like some ideas for primarily high fat, low carb foods, to increase calories.
Here are a few:
butter
cream
cream cheese
salad dressing, I like honey-mustard dressing
miracle whip

What foods do you use?

olive oil
butter, and clarified butter (ghee)
fresh flaxseed oil
brazil nuts and macadamias ... beware the portion size, or the carbs can add up quickly
low-salt bacon
heavy cream, additive-free if you can find it
eat the skin from chicken, turkey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
great idea tskako
p.s. - where do you find a low carb honey mustard dressing?? My carb counter lists ... 4 to 7 grams per Tbsp (15 ml). Miracle Whip has 2g sugar per Tbsp.
High fat dairy: Brie, Camembert, Cambozola, mascarpone, Devon cream.
And foie gras of course!
re: honey mustard dressing/dip
Doreen,
I found the Litehouse brand of Honey Mustard Dressing and Dip. I find it by the produce section in our local grocery store, by the packaged lettuce. It 's simular to the same amount of carb's as miracle whip or cream cheese. I'm not very fond of cream cheese and celery so I use this instead. It has 1.5 grams of carbs in 1 Tbsp and 7 gr of fat. It's not zero carbs but still low.
Happy New Year!
Another couple
I like the idea of chopping some herbs into sour cream and put a dollop on my steak or veges.
I love roasted meats with some pumpkin/zuccini or other low carb veges roasted in the pan juices and olive oil.
There are some powdered gravy mixes very low in carbs. Mix these into the pan juices to make a rich gravy.
Crumble some rich cheeses into your salad, like goats cheese or blue cheese (yum).
If you eat SF jelly, then beat a 8oz packet of cream cheese and then mix in the 2 cups of jelly mix. Let it set.
Pork rinds (if you can eat them - I can't).
Karen, thanks for the directions here.
Kim, my daughter says you are so pretty! Don't feel bad--I don't like the pork rinds, either. I like the idea of celery dipped into dressings though--I guess one could do this with some other of the low carb vegies? And here I always thought salad dressing was BAD for me. :rolleyes: I'm going to jot down everyone's suggestions. KarenB had one somewhere--when making sf jello, instead of two cups water do one cup water, one cup cream--super! I'm going to make some of those right now. And some of the cream cheese desserts. Yum!!!
Awwwwwwww
Carolyn, go give your daughter a big hug for me! That pic was taken on my 40th birthday, so its nice to get such positive comments.
I try to make cream sauces as much as possible. I'm struggling to get my calorie intake up to 10 times my weight. I add 1/4 cup (2.2g) to the pan juices and throw in the other ingredients as appropriate.
Mushroom and cream sauce on steak
Parmesan cheese and cream sauce on chicken
Ginger & Soy and cream sauce on pork
Karen,
Thanks for the suggestion and everyone else. I was having a hard time keeping my appetite going. I have had only 128 oz of water and kraut and hot dogs for supper. I think I will go and get me come bacon and cheddar tip with some pork rinds.
What do I like . Everything high fat. :wave:
