hiking snacks

Hi,
I am new to Atkins-- did CAD before. My problem is this-- We go hiking and biking a lot-- yesterday we did 13 miles hiking. I need to take food (lunch or snack) with me. Before I took trail mix and plums. Yesterday I took a piece of string cheese and a slim jim-- the slim jim was so greasy cause it was warm and so was the cheese. Any suggestions of what I can take along? I am just starting induction this today-- tried it last week and blew it.

Thanks
Gin

HI It's so great to see a walker out there. I've lost my ability to get out and do those kind of miles..

Try celery and red pepper strips -they would be tasty even when warmed-and the water content helps. Do you take one of your water bottle frozen? I'd take deli turkey before slimjims(personal tastebud issue) frozen kept with your cold water.
And even tho you are on induction I think after mile 5 you should be allowed nuts, macadamia or pecansIMHO :D
(You know you are supposed to wait 2 weeks to add nuts to your plan) Plums aren't that bad later (on OWLl) only 7.8carbs)

Enjoy life while you are on plan.

Thanks for the reply-- I will try the pepper rings. I have a camelback so I do not have cold water. Will pick up some deli turkey-- that also sounds good.

Can I ask another stupid question-- is all we get is 3 cups of salad vegetables a day on induction? I can eat that for lunch alone--LOL

Thanks again
gin--who is off biking today-- about 25 miles
