i want one so bad!!

Every Easter my store gets those Cadbury Cream and Cadbury Caramel Eggs, this year they sent us some for Valentines day.. a HUGE box of them. Today i wanted one soooooooooooo bad, but i didnt give in. I havent cheated once the entire time ive been on Atkins, being thin is so much better than eating carbs. One egg has 24 carbs of sugar it.. maybe one wouldnt hurt too much eh? Oh well.. maybe ill eat one at Easter.

Good for you not to give in to the temptation! After all is it really worth cheating for?? My reasoning is that whatever food I desire to "cheat on", will always be there waiting for me ...........if I ever decide to give in!!

Good for you. Maybe next time it will be easier to resist because you were strong enough to pass it up the first time :) :) :)

I don't know about the US, but in the UK we can buy sugar free Easter eggs at Thorntons, a specialist chocolate shop with a wide range of diabetic sweets (candy).

My advice: try the Russell Stover's caremel cups, if you can handle the sugar alcohols. (I don't have a problem with them.)

I heard that there is a SF Whitman's Sampler available in the States this year.

Hey thats great you resisted the temptation...That would be a tough one for me too, but as yourself, I am determined to not cheat..I think it gets easier after time..Keep up the good work!!

I've eaten Cadbury Cream Eggs (in addition to vast amounts of other chocolates) directly from the shop at
Cadbury World (the factory in Birmingham, England). They were so fresh and divine I couldn't bring myself to eat them here in the States ever again. Though I'm not sure about the eggs, the majority of Cadbury chocolates sold here in the States is made my Hershey's under license by Cadbury. It's quite different from the real thing. Cadbury Rules! If I ever get back to Cadbury World, that's the day that I cheat.

I used to love Cadbury cream eggs, but long before I had discovered Atkins, they just seemed to stop being so good.

Tell you what I do like, though...those snicker eggs? If you get them fresh, the carmel is so sooooft...Mmmm... And they're already cut in half, if you want to cheat not so badly you can have half of one and save the other half for later, or give it to someone else...

Wait, I don't suppose this is helping... ^_^;;

There sure is. It's fairly good, though I don't appreciate chocolate candies as much ever since I started dipping into the cocoa.

One thing I've found is that my tastes have changed so much since starting LCing things just don't taste like I remember them. I used to love the Cadbury eggs too--but bet they'd be way too sweet now.

Good job resisting!

Maybe it wouldn't and maybe it would. That's the thing about playing Russian Roulette with Easter eggs. You don't know what's going to happen until you pull the trigger. ;)

Yes...the russell stover SF box of chocolates are super! They are so similiar to the "real" chocolate that I don't think if you did'nt tell anyone they would not know the difference :agree: There is like caramels in it,and orange cream, strawberry chews ,choc. truffle..and a few others. russell stover also has the sugar free toffee sticks...them are super! I have a small treat everyday from russell stover and has not harmed me at all. Granted it is only 2 or 3 small pieces but it keeps me in line with "no cheating" at all!

I'm so glad that the "candy season" is coming to an end. (The candy season is, for those who haven't figured it out, Halloween/Christmas/Valentine's/Easter/Mother's Day, or September through May.) Let's hope that they don't come up with Father's Day, Independence Day or Labor Day themed candies!
Even though it can be a frustrating experience to walk past the candy displays (which are in-your-face unavoidable most of the time) I now can resist the urge to grab a bag of candy without too much trouble. Even the sugar-free varieties don't appeal to me very much.

I have discovered also that the "discomfort" from eating any type of "pure-sugar" treats are not worth it (including the SF). I tend to get bad leg cramps in my calves and thighs when I eat real sugar and intestinal cramps if I eat phony sugar on top of all the other bad reactions to too many carbs.

So, while those Hershey's candy-coated chocolate eggs used to be my Easter favorite, I now look at them and think of the "yuk" or "pain" that will ensue if I eat them, and can pass them by very easily.

Joan
