adding carbs

what are the safest carbs to start adding back. I did read DANDR and know what he says, but I was just curious what carbs you all started with when you began to up your carb intake. I already eat limited nuts and berries and occasionally low carb bread/crackers. But I'd like to add some more carbs and want some advice on that. Thanks!

More veggies Pye. Just keep thinking about what foods your body can use. Veggies are easy to add, give your meals more color and flavor, are full of nutrients and vitamins and fiber. Just be an educated eater. Know the carb counts of different veggies (some are very starchy therefore carb laden) and choose wisely. Increase your variety and quantity of veggies.

cottage cheese is pretty low in carbs. Also, there is a low carb site (lowcarbluxury.com, I believe) that claims yogurt (unsweetened, no fillers or starches added) is actually about 4 carbs per cup, because all of the lactose has been converted to lactic acid by the "live active culture." I myself have not added this yet because I am keeping my carb counts low to lose faster, but I do plan on adding it eventually. you could sweeten it with splenda, add some chopped walnuts or sliced strawberries.....yummmmm. another way to broaden your "menu" is to check out some of the recipes on the recipe forum, particularly the main dish site. alot of the recipes are still low in carbs but use a combo of meats, cheeses, interesting sauces and veggies that you may not have tried before to introduce some new tastes and get some variety, while keeping to your diet. HTH!
