You need a plan.

Birna,

I see that you have not read any books on this way of eating. That is a must for sure. How can you stick to something when you don't have the details? Also, the books give plenty of advice and support. I am on the Atkins plan, and I find it works great. There is also Protein Power and the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. What ever you do, at least read one.

I had to try this WOE at least twice before I could stick with it. I hadn't read any book...okay...I skimmed through it. For one, I found it difficult why I am eating this way when someone would say something. I didn't know the facts or reasons behind this diet. I found it very difficult to stick with something I could even explain.

Check some links too. i.e. the Atkins Centre (there are others for the other books as well. That one is the only one I can remember). They have loads of info there too.

Good Luck. And remember, it won't be so hard once you know what you are doing AND WHY you are doing it.

Hi Birna,

Iceland? Cool! You're our first member from Iceland.

The most important thing you can do for yourself right now is buy or borrow a few books on low carbing and read them not once but twice. Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution or Protein Power are both good choices.

Don't be in a hurry. It took a long time to gain weight. If you woke up thin tomorrow, you wouldn't know how to deal with it. Becoming thin is a process, not an end. Your mind has to adjust as well as your body and it is time well spent, believe me.

Read through the links in the red/orange bar at the top of the page. Loads of useful information there.
