Can't get past feeling "sick"

Hello! I began Atkins gung-ho back in June, lost 8 pounds within 10 days, was entering into ketosis and then started feeling light-headed and weak, kinda that floaty feeling. I tolerated it for a day or so, but then in desparation at a ball game I ate a hamburger, fries and a coke and within the hour felt normal. I drifted for several weeks, started Atkins again, and the same thing happened. I re-read the induction phase chapter and then came across the paragraph about losing weight too quickly can cause those feelings and to add some nuts to my diet. I figured third time's a charm and started the induction phrase yet again with a serving of nuts each day, only to experience the same dizziness, light-headedness, etc. as before.

If this is normal and you-all can tell me it WILL pass and that I'll feel better eventually (maybe after my body adjusts??), then I'll stick with it this time. Please help!! I desperately need to be healthy and get rid of this weight and lower my cholesteral and triglycerides. Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

Yes, it IS normal and it DOES pass. For me, it lasted about a week, and others on the board report spending several days feeling kind of funky... if the feeling seems unbearable, add a few more carbs in the form of veggies, but it does go away.

Also make sure you're taking a good vitamin (a good multivitamin will do) and drinking a LOT of water...8-10 glasses a day, to help keep hydrated and remove waste from your system.

You can do it!

Dr. Atkins says in his book that if you feel terrible add carbs, that you don't have to feel bad. Just be sure to take the vitamins and do everything else he recommends. He spent a lot of years getting this WOE tweaked so follow his advice. Good luck!
