Calories and donations

Blood and plasma donations are hard on they body, and they require you to eat a good meal before and after.

My question is, does dontaing burn any amount of calories? Is it the same as just laying there for the given amount of time, or is the stress on your body enough to burn extra calories?

Just one of those off the wall thoughts that ocme when one is trying to avoid studying. I can't seem to find an answer online.

I don't know, that is a good question. LOL, not that it will ever apply to me. I can't donate... my veins are so tiny... and I'm way too squimish. Put off getting my blood work done for 4 weeks...

I don't know about the burning calories part. When I donate, I eat before going in (legal food) and then after just have some diet soda (which I hate.) I know you are suppose to eat a snack while you're there but they don't make me and I don't. This doesn't bother me but like I said, I eat something before going in to donate within a half hour of arriving there. Be careful as some people tend to get woozy after donating...it's never bothered me at all.

My sister in law donates plasma 2 times a week.... I cannot even imagine! She says they take an amount based on your weight--so there is NO WAY I am going there! I sure would love the extra money and all but it took them 9 pokes to get an IV when I have baby#1 and 6 with #2..... I am NOT an poke...my be the veins.
