LC Honey Roundup
I've been combing through old threads/searching the web, looking for low carb honey. As far as I can tell, you can either buy LC honey or buy LC honey flavoring and mix it with AS and make your own.
Most of the discussions I've seen tend to focus on the adverse effects of maltitol rather than delving into which honey tastes the best. Although maltitol is certainly a topic worth discussing, at the moment I'm looking for LC honey that tastes as good as the real thing (or LC honey flavoring combined with a sweetener). Here are the products I've found so far: Premixed LC Honey Honey Tree's Sugar Free Honey (Walmart) Nature's Flavors Low-Carb Honey Syrup (http://www.naturesflavors.com/produ...roducts_id=3574) Steel's Honey Flavor Nature Sweet-12 oz. (http://www.synergydiet.com/steelhonflav.html) LC Honey Flavoring Nature's Flavors Honey Flavor Concentrate(http://www.naturesflavors.com/produ...roducts_id=1275) Nature's Flavors Honey Flavor Oil (http://www.naturesflavors.com/produ...roducts_id=3342) Suttons Bay Trading Honey Flavoring (http://www.suttonsbaytrading.com/Fl...Oils/20865.html) Spice Barn Honey Flavoring (http://www.spicebarn.com/honey_flavoring.htm) Has anyone tried these products? How do they taste? Have you baked with them? How do they taste in baked goods? Also, any additions to this compiled list of LC honey would be greatly appreciated. |
Wow I never knew there was a such thing!!! Too cool!

I have tried the honey tree sugar-free honey, you can get it at Super walmart next to the regular honey. It's actually really good. I am used to fresh honey since my family does the bee thing but honestly I have served up the fake honey to friends and nobody knew the difference. It's great with atkins muffins if you like those at all. ;)

Thanks, that's a very convincing recommendation. My local walmart doesn't carry it (just got back from looking for it), but the one a few towns over might. Thanks again. |

I hope none of those people are extra-sensitive to maltitol! |
What's it sweetened with?

I never knew they made LC honey. How wonderful. I am going to Walmart after work. :yay:

Honeytrees sugarfree imitation honey
serving size 1 TBL calories 50 fat 0 sodium 0 potassium 8 total carb 17 sugars 0 sorbitol 2 malitol 12 higher polyols 3 protein 0 (so I guess that would make it a net of 0 carbs?) I have had a miserable reaction to the bars, candies, etc, but for some reason this hasn't seemed to bother me. I only use it as a treat and don't even have it once a month so I would definately notice if it bothered me like everything else. I believe it was only $1.68 for a container of it too (can you believe it, something not completely unreasonably priced!). Jenn |
I have the Steel's Honey Flavored Nature Sweet. It's pretty good--it both tastes like I remember honey tasting, it also has almost the same texture (thick and viscous.) It is malitol, though, so I'm careful with it.

Are the bees on Atkins?

Wow, and I thought he was going to be talking about a calendar or looking for a gf. :)
I never knew there was LC honey either. Cheers, Friday |
