Am I a Freak?

Have you ever heard of people who just don't lose on Atkins?

I mean, is Atkins a sure bet for everyone or are there some for whom it just doesn't work?

Have gained 2 pounds and am ready to quit again.....2 month and with a net loss of 2 pounds....!!!! Somethin' about this just ain't right.

No, you're not a freak!!!

This is not a one size fits all diet world. Not any one plan works for everyone. The secret is to find the plan that works for you, makes you feel good and energetic and on which you can lose weight and maintain once the excess weight is gone. That can be a lot. Further complicating the issue can be other physical problems such as FM, SAD, thyroid, sensitivities/allergies, diabetes, insulin resistance, and damaged metabolism from yo yo or extended low fat dieting.

LC eating programs work for many people but there are many lc programs out there. Perhaps now that you know the easy answer doesn't work for you, you need to do further research and find the program that will fit your particular body chemistry and help you lose weight. At the right there is a tab "Which low-carb plan is right for me?" That could be your starting point. From there, visit the board forums that deal with those diets. There will be some further information there and topics, questions and answers that deal with that particular lc WOE. You can gather the names of the people posting to those particular forums and visit their journals that are on a particular WOE and see if they seem anything like you or have your same problems.

Determine your profile. What foods do you feel well and energetic on? What foods do you just have to have included to feel well? What's your lifestyle and exercise regimen? Are there any health problems or allergies that have to be taken into consideration? Do you know if you are sensitive/allergic to any food(s)? Do you have to go on a plan to test yourself to see? At the same time, read, read, read. Borrow the books from the library. Read them at the bookstore. Read the books and see what the allowed foods include. Read the histories of the people that lost weight on them. See if the foods and people fit your profile.

It might sound like a lot. It is. But you are important and finding the lc program that works for you is worth the time spent.

Good Luck!!!

reread the portion

on metabolic resistance--- perhaps it fits you. I know that until I began with fitday, and added the l-carnitine and CoQ10, I wasn't pleased nor seeing any loses. Now I am still on the slow end - but at least moving in the right direction.

Sookie,

I am a S-L-O-W loser myself. It took more than 9 weeks of being on Induction for me to see a one pound drop. However, since then, I have lost weight, but it's still an up and down rollercoaster for me. Some days I'll have dropped two pounds, but the next day I'll be back up one, two or even three pounds. Overall, though, I am still losing weight and inches, so although it's somewhat discouraging day-to-day, in the long run, I'm going to get to my goal.

My advice is to put the scale away for a month, use Fitday to log your foods, exercise if you can and stick with Atkins for at least another month. I wish I knew what the magic answer was as to why some of us are slow losers, but I think if you stick with it, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Plans for New Tactic

OK, I'm pumped about starting fresh with the Fat Fast. It sounds pretty grim but I can do anything for 5 days.

I'm bound for the land of macademias, egg yolks and mayo.

Will report back on Friday and let you know what happened.

I have high hopes, once again.

I thank all of ya'll for your responses and encouragement.

Sookie :p
