Ok you are running around town and hunger hits....

If I'm running around town like I do on the weekend and I get the munchies I go into a 7-11 and ask for a Beefbite (No roll please) with mustard. I suffer from Busy Woman syndrome
and I've learned to search through quick marts and how to find things in a pinch. I've found cheese squares, Macadamia Nuts, cold cuts, a LC bar, or sometimes jerky. What do you tend to grab?

I go by the 'ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' ;) motto and always keep LC stuff in my glove compartment. Canned fish, pork rinds...

I drive through McDonalds and get the ninety-nine cent green chile double cheeseburger (no ketchup or onion please). I use the bun as an insulating mitt and peel off a couple inches at a time to reveal the edible portion.

If it's not yet 10:30 I do the same with a ninety-nine cent sausage egg muffin.

A thin me! Fri, Jan-11-02 13:10

A Last Resort Tactic!

If I know I am running around, I will grab:

Celery - are ready prepared
Zuchinni strips " "
Cheese Cubes " "

Not Prepared:

Pork Rinds from gas stations
Water - if I am out or just thirsty

McD's - I will get a 1/4 hamburger zans bun
Diet Coke

I know where every bathroom and gas station is within a 25 mile radius of my home because of this WOL. :p

This is such a good question..

I Keep protein bars in my glove compartment, and only eat them if I have too.. I also keep a small snack bag full of nuts in there.

When I am out with the kids on the weekend we usually stop somewhere for them, that is when I get the burger with no bun, no ketchup extra lettuce...

I always bring a drink with me... and am constantly running to the bathroom :D

This is a really good question for me. This will be my first weekend abstaining from LC Bars, which is what I was using to cope with the hunger in between meals on the weekends.... I will bring along cheese, and of course water. Am just discovering the many uses in recipes for pork rinds, so I may bring along some as well, but won't mix them with the cheese. One or the other, not both. I've discovered that I if I'm going across town to be on the watch for public bathrooms...All that water - so few bathrooms, what's a girl to do!!

If I'm out and need something right away......

I whip into Wendy's or McD's and get a burger, just lettuce. :)

If I'm in the grocery and everything starts to look too good.....

I go the deli and buy a 1/4 pound of roast beef and can munch on that when I get in the car! :)

Either way gets me through til I get home and can have what I planned!!

burger sans bun or...taco bell soft taco supremes (89 cents around here) and suck the innards out of it. lol.

I try to keep a stick of pepperoni (un-opened), some macs, and a bottle of water in the car, but just like everything else someone may decide that they want to eat my stash and not replace it. So on those days.....

Convenience store (not the best option)

Nuts
meat sticks w/cheese
sliced lunch meat (if they have a deli)
pork rinds

Fast food (all time fav.)

Wendy's triple beef w/ cheese pickle onion and bacon no bun.
This will keep me full for the rest of the day while I run my errands.

moonmist Sun, Jan-13-02 19:14

i stop by a fast-food place:

wendys-triple cheeseburger
jack in the box: ultimate bacon cheeseburger
carl's jr: 6 dollar burger
mcdonalds: mcdouble
burger king: double whopper

pork rinds are at every gas station around here so i'll pick some of those up too... beef jerky's got too much sugar usually, so i avoid it. most of those beef sticks and snack packs are also filled with other sugars as well.

McDonalds salad shaker only has a few carbs - 3 I think, add another 3 for the 1/2 pkg of ranch dressing or eat it w/out.
I have had the Chix Strip snack (22 whopping carbs if you eat the breading also) at Sonic, but they are breaded and by the time you peel most of that off, there is nothing. I miss the rotissery Chix at KFC - all the stores around here quit selling that  ! I always liked that, even before I was LCing!

On the road I buy cheese sticks and beef jerky - you need water with that !!!

This is true, but it sure beats the heck out of reaching for the snickers bar (which is what I would get if I didn't reach for the meat stick which has 1 hidden carb).

I love pistacios - will get a small bag of them at a convenience store, or some slim jims, which are lower carb than packaged beef jerky.

At McD's, I'll get three double cheeseburgers, no ketchup, and peel the bun off (which usually takes the cheese with it, but that's okay, as I've cut back on cheese).

At Taco Bell, I usually avoid it, but if I just can't stand not taking a run for the border, I'll get a taco salad express (which does not come with the shell bowl), and tell them I don't want chips with it, and to hold the beans - so basically, it's lettuce, picante sauce, beef, and a little cheese. I do have sour cream with mine.

I'm trying to avoid the protein bars, too.

Try the quenchies

I find stopping for a drink cures me of the munchies.

My favourite place is the coffee bar in the big bookstore in town.

With my coffee and cream I can take a break, and read the daily papers which the coffee bar provides.

Of course this is just an excuse to then browse around the books.

Expensive business ... drinking coffee.... £1.50 for the coffee and £6 for the paperback!

Does anyone know the carb count in McDonald's hambuger?

I was just curious how many carbs are in there b/c the McDonald's meat tastes sooo fake to me (so I was thinking that it's high)!?!

If I'm going to grab something on the road (I really try not to) I usually just stay away from McDonald's in general and also I find it dificult to eat a burger w/out the bun anyway so...I either grab the 99c nugget from Wendy's (12 carbs total) or 1 taco from Taco Bell (9 carbs). I know the bad carbs are in there, but if I'm on a road trip or something I some how justify it in my head;)

I've been having problems on campus during lunch - the only thing they have are these premade salads that are horrible...it's that or Pizza Hut, Burger King, or a bagel - so I stick to the salad. I guess I could buy a sandwich at the deli and take the bun off, but then I'd have to spend 5.50 for some lunch meat - it seems like a waste to me:(

Good Luck
Erin
