Wish me luck!!!

Well, I've decided to take the plunge - tomorrow I start CALP . I'm still a little scared (I'm one of the Atkins deserters :D ) but I'm excited about it. Anyone have any great tips for a newbie at CALP, give 'em here

I also upped my exercise a little as of this morning - 60 minute walk to work with hills instead of 25 minutes downhill!

CALP

I have never done any low carb plan other than CALP. It has worked wonders for me.

Read, read, and reread your book. I use it for reference material constantly. It takes a long time for me to digest all that info and remember everything, so I look at it a lot.

I would suggest doing the weekly weight averages. I know some people don't like to weigh in at all, but for me it is perfect. I am a scale nut and need to be able to get on it every morning.....so it works perfect for me.

Journal..... maybe you do this with Atkins, but if not ...start one! This is a wonderful way to track everything that affects you, not just food.... but mood, daily activities, stress or anything that might upset your new found way of life. My journal is appropriately called the "little FAT book" which makes me laugh. It is about 4" x 5" and I keep it in my purse and take it everywhere.

I am no expert, but from everything I have read I do believe that CALP is a little easier to start out with than Atkins. It certainly has become my way of life. Forever.

Best wishes......

Thanks Libby!

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer all of my posts (especially the nitpicky little questions...) I started on Sat with CALP and I'm enjoying it very much. I was afraid the RM would push me to a carb feast in the evenings (I'm one of those who pre-LCing would sit in front of the tube with a movie and just chomp away - thank God LCing broke me of that habit) but actually I'm finding that I'm satisfied with whatever carbs I have laid out. I guess the salad and the balance of the protiens and veggies is what does it. :)

I will start a journal but I'm famously awful at keepng it up (I think I've started two since I've been part of these boards and haven't kept up with either one of them!)

What helps?

Posting helps. REALLY helps a lot in fact. I wouldn't have made it without the support of this site and MyCAFreinds at yahoo groups. It took 2 groups to get me through the stall. Someone finally pointed out that I was overcarbing at RM. I hadn't seen it, or the Carb Monster prevented me from seeing. :) As soon as I corrected it, I dropped 3 pounds, the first in 2 months.

So, if you have problems POST! Yell, scream, do whatever you need, to get the help.
