Snoring....

Has anyone here who has lost weight cut down on snoring too? When I was 180lbs and even up to 200 I didn't snore unless I was exhausted and even then it wasn't loud, now that I'm up in weight 275 I snore like a freight train *wife tends to exagerate*

I am just wondering if anyone has experienced less snoring as the weight fell off, Manny

I also snore more the heavier I am. I've had sleep apnea surgery and sleep with a CPAP machine (its a high tech medical device that pumps air through your nostrils to keep the airway open), I'm hoping the weight loss will allow me to stop using the CPAP machine.

I used to snore all the time. I don't now unless I'm drunk :)

I too used to snore like a freight train. Now that I am down 90+ lbs., my wife has to wake me in the middle of the night to make sure that I am O.K. I have such a peaceful night sleeping now. No more tossing and turning, it sure feels good to wake up in the morning and know that everyone in the house has had a good night of sleep. :yay:

Same story here too. I used to snore heavily and would often wake up my wife when I would stop breathing and then suddenly start gasping for air. I was always asleep and never knew I was doing this. I am sure I must have had a milder case of (self-diagnosed) sleep apnea.

Now, snoring is vary rare and I am much more rested in the mornings. My wife says I no longer gasp for air. So she sleeps better now too!!

My husband used to snore so loud that I would spend probably 5 out of 7 nights on the couch each week. I love my hubby dearly, but I couldn't for the life of me fall asleep with all that noise, so had to retreat to the couch. My poor DH tried everything - nasal drops (ysnore, or something like that) - breath right strips, all sorts of junk and nothing worked. He's lost about 25 pounds on the Atkin's WOE and now I actually have nights where I nudge him to make sure he's alive! I noticed about two weeks ago that he doesn't snore anymore and it's awesome! We are BOTH sleeping much better now! :)

Since I lost my weight my snoring has amost stopped or is very light, according to others......

My DH is 160 lbs. and snores like a freight train - he went for surgery and it only made it worse - so no weight association here.

Since I lost 27 pounds my snoring has almost disappeared. I snored like a chainsaw for most of my life including as a teenager but I was not overweight as a teenager. I wonder what the miracle of this diet is since this is the first time in my life that I have been snore free aaaannnnd......loving it.

It could be associated with "drinking" less, for those who used to imbibe more -- just a thought.

My DH used to snore like a freight train (and that is not the slightest exaggeration.) He was 300 pounds when he started Atkins and is down 66 pounds now. No more snoring! Ahhhhhhh.

Asuncion7 Mon, Oct-20-03 14:22

Well I don't know if I snored(what a silly question, of course I don't snore), but hubby did and he has lost 45 lbs and doesn't anymore, he also has NO more heartburn at all!!! Totally gone, zip zero ziltch!

Meg_S Mon, Oct-20-03 14:39

I dont' get heartburn either with low carb. My husband has really bad acid reflux, and an ulcer... he's really skim but likes to eat low carb because it controls the acid.
