Ketosis = weight loss?

Hi! I followed the rules of induction strictly about a month ago and lost 7 pounds in a week. I felt so tired, ill, and nauseous that I had to stop. When I went of induction, I still kept my carbs low, but nowhere near "Atkins" level. I didn't gain any of the weight back.

Now, 2 weeks later, I'm back in Induction, and feeling great! I have energy, and no nausea. Huge appetite though. But I've been on it for about 5 days and not lost a pound, if anything gained one. I've been in Ketosis since day 3.

So my question is this: does being in Ketosis mean that I am losing fat, even if the scale and tape measure don't show it? Or could my calorie consumption be too high and stalling me? I'm only trying to lose about 11 more pounds...

I hope to hear back from some of you!

Being in ketosis means you are burning fat for energy. If your calories are too high and you are eating too much fat, that may be what you are burning for energy and your body may not need to go into its fat stores. Therefore, it is possible to be in ketosis and not lose weight.

However, you don't want to let your calories get too low. If your body thinks it is starving, your metabolism will slow down. Each person has to figure out for himself or herself what he or she can eat and still lose weight.

Since you are only in day 5 of induction and you don't have much to lose, I'd wait before making any changes. Some people don't lose anything during the first week of induction and then drop several pounds during the second week.
