Ranch Seasoning Here's a pure Ranch spice mix for your dressings and dips! Make a large batch – a jar of spice mix is a wonderful gift to family and friends. category: Liberal low carb Ingredients 2 tablespoons dried tarragon or dried chives 2 tablespoons dried parsley 2 tablespoons dried dill 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon sea salt ½ tablespoon ground black pepper 9% fat 23% protein 69% carbs 17 carbs/serving Wait ? 17g of carbs ? Where ? Anyone ? |
That's got to be a typo. I browsed that page and noticed the low-carb bread supposedly has only 2 g. I wouldn't rely on that nutrition info. It doesn't seem accurate.

That would be very scary if true. I started dipping everything in Ranch Dip when I quit Ketchup & B.B.Q Sauce.

Could they be adding in the carbs of the buttermilk (or whatever) that makes the dressing? The herbs themselves obviously are not so carby.

I plugged this recipe into Fitday, and it looks like they counted the entire recipe as a 'serving.' That's over 1/2 cup of spices. |
I guess it depends how big they presume your serve is. But do remember the carbs in all of those herbs and spices do add up. They are all carbs after all.
Just for the heck of it I popped the ingredients into MyPLAN (except dill - for some reason dill is not there, but I found it at Calorie King) and the result is below. For the entire recipe of Ranch Seasoning: Calories: 349 Carbs: 54.3 Protein: 15.4 Fat: 9.2 For whatever reason, they assume no fibre. But since you'll be eating such a small amount at a time, I shouldn't think that it's worth worrying about. |
