What do you....?

I've noticed that when I pre-make things to go into the fridge for "just to grab" hunger it helps. I was just wondering what others had pre-made for those times?

I make deviled eggs, egg salad, tunafish salad, I also cook up a whole chicken and debone it and put it into zip lock bags, cook extra meat while cooking supper so I'll have it for the next day, SF jello.

Those are a few but I'd like to know what else you might have in mind or do for yourselves?

Thanks for the input!

I do about the same as you, hard boiled eggs, cooked meat, cheese - I always have avocados around too.

Babybel cheese rounds, green olives, pickles, pepperoni slices, string cheese, celery sticks to dip in blue cheese dressing, full fat homemade yogurt...

Thanks for your responces!!! Anybody else have anything else they pre-make?

celery and ranch dressing
cucumbers and ranch dressing

I seem to be liking the ranch dressing.

I actually try not to keep premade "munchies" in my fridge because I've found that for me it encourages mindless munching. I have a big problem of eating when I'm bored, especially sitting infront of the tv, so if I don't have anything ready I have to make an effort to make a snack, and that gives me time to think, "am I honestly hungry right now, or do I just want something to put in my mouth?" Usually the answer is the latter. I do have a couple things for when I really am actually hungry but not enough to fix a meal, I keep pepperoni around and celery with light cream cheese or nocarb ranch dressing, and pork rinds, but that's about it.

I'm the same Tally. I don't keep anything pre-made anymore.

If I'm really hungry I'll get up and make something, usually tuna or scrambled eggs if I want something quick.

I find that if I'm not really hungry, just looking for something to munch on, water does it for me. COLD and ICY water.

Roll-ups are great!

I am one of those who have to have things ready to eat. If I get too hungry then I make bad choices.

I keep roll-ups in the fridge. When I get home from the grocery, I make them right away. Right now, I have turkey, ham, and cheese roll-ups. I make them up and put them in a ziploc box.

I also always have salad made and ready to eat.

I also usually have leftovers from dinner the night before. And even leftovers from the night before the night before.

Soup - it's freezing here and I live off soup so I always have some homemade soup on hand. I usually have some cooked meat like chicken on hand too. Then there is cheese. I will also prepackage almonds so I can grab a portion in a hurry. Most of the time this is all done to make lunches easier rather than snack food easier to grab. I tend not to eat off schedule so that's not a worry.

I've almost always got a pot of soup in the refrigerator this time of year (Italian Wedding Soup currently) and there's almost always some sort of leftovers hanging about in the refrigerator as well.
Failing that, there's always raw veggies or cheese for a quick bite.
I will often cook ahead; while I've got the oven on, I might as well be roasting 2 kinds of meat to save time on another night that may be more rushed or I'll make a double batch of something and freeze half for another time.

I love veggies.:yum: I always have raw cucumbers, green beans, snowpeas, and red peppers and spinach in the fridge for snacking. I like to dip pork rinds in ranch dressing. One of my favorite pre-made dishes is my Cheeseburger Casserole. :yum: It freezes well.

Wow! These are some great ideas! I see that I'm not the only one that never runs out of ranch dressing! (Thanks Hidden Valley!!)

I keep only veggies on hand, for the same reason AFWife and Tally mentioned. I have a habit of mindless munching that I don't want to encourage -- but I do make sure that if the DESPERATE urge hits, I have low-carb stuff I can easily whip up.

I also take cold cuts, spread ranch dressing (or whichever you prefer), a little cucumber, cheese, roll it up and it's like a mini taco.

I keep a tub of Cream cheese mixed with 1 cup shed Cheddar, 2 table spoons chopped green onion, one can diced chilies and 6 or 7 chopped pc of bacon. I spread it on a LC tortilla and roll it up. I can only eat about .25 of one at a time. They are great for parties too.
