Wheat Bran???

I am new to LC baking and have come across receipies that call for Wheat Bran and Oat bran. I can't seem to find these anywhere. Are they a flour and would be in the baking area or are they a cereal??? If I purchased the cereal "All Bran" and ground it up, would it work the same?

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have found them in the cereal isle by the hot cereals and oatmeal. Usually in a jar.

The same as wheat germ?

You can also find them in bulk or packages in natural foods stores.

No, the bran is a different part of the wheat kernel.

Sorry to be such a pain but I have looked EVERYWHERE for this stuff!

I did come across "Oat Bran" in a box in the cereal aisle near the oatmeal. I needed the wheat bran for a muffin receipe....does anyone think that the oat bran that I found would work as a substitute???

Thanks!

Jaimie, I buy Quaker Wheat Bran from my little hole-in-the-wall grocery store. ;) It's usually right beside the oat bran in the cereal aisle, so if it's not there, they probably don't sell it. They'd probably order it for you if you asked...
