Forgot my lunch, Any suggestions?

 Well, I am beginning week 2 of induction and today I forgot to grab my lunch before leaving for work. Because I work about 40 minutes from home, it is not practical to drive home to pick it up. For breakfast, I had two fried eggs. My only choices are the regular fast-food restaurants nearby, any suggestions? I don't want to mess up.

bunless burgers, no ketchup and salad (don't eat their dressing, it's generally low fat).

The Mc D chicken salad is good no dressing ask for mayo :)

So basically I can have any kind of fast-food sandwich. (CB, HB, Chick, etc. with no bun and no ketchup?)

Watch out for the ones that are breaded (chicken, that is)... But yeah, I generally have a Burger King XL BaconCheese burger without the bun :)

I live in a resort town with only a McD's, which does not tempt me. Do you have a deli nearby? All my favorite sandwich places are glad to make me my favorites on greens instead of bread. Tasty plus!

Some McDonalds have actually started offering a "protein meal," which is two burger patties with cheese, no bun, a side salad and a drink. If yours doesn't have that, try two double cheeseburgers with no ketchup and no bun (approx. 6-8 carbs for two). They can put it on a pancake plate or in a cardboard box for you, and you can eat it with a knife and fork. I probably do this at least once a week. And only $2!

Just a question Hilary, how is it 6-8 carbs for just meat and a few slices of cheese??? I would think it would be alot lower..

Personally I love Wendy's Ceasar Side Salad.. w/dressing I believe its only around 2 net carbs.. I could be off because I forget if that count includes the dressing.. But I think it does..

Any grilled chicken patty from anywhere is good
(cut it up and put it in a salad for a chicken salad!)
Any hamburger or cheeseburger minus the bun and stuff is good.. Though I mean if your carbs allow, take the tomato slice, lettuce, and onion they usually put on some of thier sandwhiches..
Most salads are pretty good, some are alittle high for induction... You 7 or up carbs ect.. Kind of high when you only have 20! heheh
Or lunchmeat on a salad (for sandwhich shops, subway offers the salad w/meat thing)

You can pretty much eat anywhere out if you know what to eat....
:)

I was wondering about the 6 - 8 carb thing to. Where does it come from? (Cheese?)

LovableLC Mon, Sep-29-03 12:15

Some grilled chicken is injected with a sugar solution. I'd be hesitant to try it. What I do is go to Burger King and get a double whopper with mayo lettuce cheese pickles take off the bun and put the bottom pattie on top so that everything is sandwhiched in. Getting additional things on top of the cheese helps the cheese not to stick on the bun. Good luck.

When I am out and about shopping on the weekends, I often have a double meat burger w/o the bun. Some places offer to give it to me in a styrofoam container, but I have found I actually prefer it sitting on the bread, so that I can eat it OFF the bread while driving. I don't worry about the small amount of ketchup, but that's just me. If you think it will be an issue for you, ask for none or scrape it off! :) Please be aware that if I do this, I make sure I eat my salad/veggies later on in the day. Gotta get that fiber in!

It's a little late for lunch, but I personally swear by the new McD's salads--they are really great. Get the Grilled Chicken Cobb salad. There will be a few carrot slices in there that are easy to pick out. The Neuman dressings are fine, at least 2 of the 3 are: I believe they are the Ranch and Creamy Ceasar; have like 2 carbs. But check the back before eating--one of them I traded back for lower carbs, just can't remember which one it was.

So, what DID you have for lunch today?

black57 Mon, Sep-29-03 21:43

Is there an In and Out Burger near you?n They serve a hamburger that is wrapped in lettuce which is the lcer's dream. :yay: They do not advertice this low carb burger so you must ask for it.

Ohio Kim, what part of Ohio?

I am from a small city in Ohio known as Warren. It is in Northeast OH, half way between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. I am now in California and have been here for 4 years. I was just in Ohio back in July.

Wendy's chicken BLT salad is pretty low carb, I like their honey mustard dressing, even though it brings the whole salad's total to about 20 carbs, but It doesn't knock me out of ketosis, it may you, however.

Their caesar dressing is really low, so you're lookin at about 10 carbs for the chicken BLT salad if you ask for the caesar. It's a huge salad, the chicken is good too!

I almost drove off before checking my order, they gave me the Low Fat honey mustard dressing! Eek, that's about 25 carbs ALONE...I backed up and banged on the window and asked for the Regular Full Fat one. The other woman working in there laughed at me, pointed at the guy who made my order, and said "he's tryin to put you on a diet!" Making a joke. It cracked me up, the joke's on them...I'm on the best diet out there!
