Can you guess what I'm a fan of? Hello to all!

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this and thought I'd drop by and say hello. I started trying Atkins Sunday, but I have a funny feeling I've been eating a tad over 20 grams of carbs per day, and may not have gotten a real good start.

After my first baby, I weighed in at about 202. EEK! Over 200 was NOT an option. So, I started dieting, counting calories and working out. It did work, and I dropped some weight. What a great feeling. But then I slowed down and lost ambition and gained a few pounds back. I was at about 190 ish recently. Then I started watching the calories again and getting up at 5am and either walking or doing tapes. Guess what? I lost a whopping 2 pounds. Nice! Glad I dragged my butt outta bed at 5am for months to freeze outside walking to lose nada! What a waste! (yeah, yeah, I know, I'm getting into shape which is good... but it sure would be nice to have lost some weight during these 5am torture sessions!)

Anyway, after doing a bunch of on-line research on Atkins I finally decided to give it a try. I had heard of people trying it, but not full fledged ... just gorging themselves with meat and cheese ... and not being successfull. Go figure! So, I DID do research and bought the book (yesterday) and I'm going to get started.

Like I said above, I think I've been eating more than 20 grams of carbs per day. I admit I have not been keeping real good track, I've just been estimating. I now have a pocket carb counter and will keep better track. I also need to finish reading the book. And, I may even dare start a journal.

That's about it! Thanks for reading, if you did.

Go to www.fitday.com and plug in your daily food intake. Much easier to keep track of your carbs that way. It is also a free site that sends no solicitations.

I tried jogging myself for the first time some weeks ago so I feel your pain as far as the cold goes. Also tried to jump rope in my unheated garage and thought my lungs would explode. I'm sticking with my free weights and elliptical trainer until spring!
:D
Good luck to you - I'm sure you will get the hang of this, feel great and see results soon!

Hey Leah..

Yes - start a journal for sure. I am a Disney junkie as well. My wife and I are planning a trip. Went to WDW for the 100 yr celebration...way cool! One of my goals is to drop a good bit of my fat prior to our next trip back. I hate the disney pics of my and Buzz Lightyear when my stomach looks like a tire around my waist! Visit my journal and say Hi then start yours up - Steve
