Jump Rope
Anybody use rope jumping in their workouts? Any suggestions on good videos to learn things like cross overs, alternating jumps, things like that? I can jump rope easy enough with two feet but want to try to mix it up some.
Thanks for the input. |
google is your friend. try double-unders if you want to get your HR up there.

Thanks!
LOL! I ran some searches on google and didn't come up with any of those sites, hence my question here. Thanks for the input, I will probably order one of the Lee videos and will try some of the others later.
I *know* how they are SUPPOSED to be done, theoretically, lol, but can't get my legs to function they way they should to get the jump done. I'm hoping one of the tapes will give some ideas on little tips or subtle things to watch for to be able to perform them correctly. Right now I just do single unders and a modified jogging jump. What about you, do you jump often and which techniques do you use? AL ::wants to master the cross over:: :D |
ooo - I'm too heavy right now to do any jumping rope - but in college and after (when I was thinner) I was OK with just double hopping and single hopping. it got my HR up and that was the point - I never jumped as a kid and it took a college fitness & conditioning class to learn how to jump rope as an adult without tangling my feet every 10 or so turns. I never did manage to get that even that cool heel-toe that you see the boxers doing in the movies :D It is a great exercise - and portable too ! I do remember that it is important to get a rope that spins well - we had a great leather rope with good handles - but it would leave a wicked welt if you let it smack your calves in a turn -
