Not totally new, but starting over after 2 years need advice

Was down to 170 at one point in my life using Atkins, but gained it all back when I thought I could go off and survive. Doesnt work. I have to admit its a lifestyle now to keep this weight off. My weakness is of course sweets

I am back on Atkins and it is coming off slowly, but not fast enough for me.

I am at about 18-25 carbs a day and that is it

I use Atkins products mainly in the morning. A shake or a daybreak bar for breakfast but being on the go lunch is hard

I am asking do you think this is an acceptable lunch:

Subway tuna salad, all veggies, salt and pepper

Thats it. I get everything on it but hot peppers. Dressing: No

Now before in my life I was eating well over 400 carbs a day so this significant a cut back is a huge difference.

I followed induction, dont eat any junk food, etc etc stay away from carrots, sugary veggies etc etc

But for lunch I do do the Subway salad since I cannot eat their subs anymore.

If I do Jimmy Johns I get the Turkey Unwich, which is normal turkey breast in a lettuce wrap.

I work out in the boondocks so not eating something from one of those two places, or a Wendy's salad, is not an options

I think the problem I have now is I eat too many nuts. I love the things but avoid cashews.

ALso I would like to know what people do for breakfast when you have about 15 minutes to get out the door and I cannot cook to save my life

About twice a week I will eat a plain rice cake with whipped cream cheese other than that its all atkins daybreak bars

Welcome to the board!

One way to probably speed up your losing progress would be to drop the bars, as they do contain ingredients that can hinder many people's weightloss efforts, even though the Atkins company suggests you use them frequently.

Can you fry an egg or put a few bits of bacon in the microwave? If so then you can cook breakfast ;)
Or get ham with no added sugar and roll slices of this up with slices of cheese and a pickle.

Or lay some cooked meat and veggies in the bottom of an oven plate, mix up some eggs, cream and grated cheese and pour it over then slap it in the oven and leave for half an hour or so and hey presto!! Crustless quiche!!
You can make a big one at the weekend and eat slices of it for breakfast or easy snacks.

If you have a sweet tooth it might be that eating those Atkins candy bars (which is what they are really) is feeding it and making you keep wanting sweet foods.
So trying to avoid even artificial sweeteners for a week or so might let you kill off your sugar monster, which will make eating Atkins so much easier to do!!

As for eating at fast food outlets, it is posible by choosing the salad items and plain meats but maybe taking your own dressing rather than using theirs - you can check the labels for no sugar when out shopping and buy a few bottles then put a little in a small tupperware pot to take with you. Then you will know what is in them and how many carbs to count for them.

I would stop the rice cakes this early in your Atkins journey and maybe look up how to make flax crackers or cheese crackers which are induction-friendly, especially if you intend to stay on induction for some time.

Cooking is a skill. Some people have talent, true; but all you need is practice.

There's lots of cooking videos out there, and lots of recipes on the board here when you want to expand. Because that's the beauty of it: I cook once, and have meals for days. Imagine your own frozen meals waiting for you in the freezer.

It's worth it. I was once in your same boat, so I know!
