Met-Rx Carb Count – Too High? Ideas?

Hi all,

My daily schedule is going to be changing for the next few weeks and I would like to replace my standard Atkins egg and meat breakfast with a quick shake. Someone recommended that I use Met-Rx Original Vanilla Meal Replacement. The box label indicates 22g of carbohydrate. It looks like the carbs come from Maltodexterin. I have used Spleda with Maltodextrin and it does not seem to upset my ketosis or weight loss, but I am concerned by 22g level. For the past 8 weeks I have not exceeded 20g total per day.

Any thoughts or accounts of actual experiences with this product would be appreciated.

Other product suggestions would be great as well.

I sure would hate to stall at this point.

Thanks

Nick

MetRx and others have some lower carb products, including EAS. Usually in the 4-9 carb range. Most of them taste pretty ok.
Next on the list are products like Designer Protein which are about one carb per scoop. Taste isn't the greatest but they are a good source of protein.

Thanks,

I took a look at the EAS products. The local guy at the GNC store talked me into the original MetRx formula with the 22g carb content. I have been doing my own little mini-triathlon in the gym 4-5 times a week, 30 minutes on the LifeCycle, 30 minutes on the Step Master and 30 minutes in the pool. His opinion was that the extra carbs would not throw me out of ketosis at this level of training. After 3 days, I am down another 3 pounds, so he may be correct. I feel great. I did use a few Keto Sticks and the color changes from medium purple to trace in the mid-mornings, but they have not indicated a complete stoppage. I’ll fall back on the EAS formulas if the sticks tell me to do so or the weight loss stops.

Sound reasonable?

Thanks,

Nick
