Query about a Dr Atkins recipe

I've just been browsing through the Dr Atkins Quick & Easy New Diet Cookbook... and doing alot of frowning, cos im on induction, and most of the recipes are too high carb for me on induction.

There is a recipe for Grilled Lemon & Rosemary Lamb, which has got me confused. Dr Atkins counts 7.7g carb in this, and i would have thought it was -0-...

5T fresh lemon juice
100ml olive oil
1 t fresh rosemary
1 clove garlic
2 t grated lemon zest
450g boneless lamb chops

Where are these 7.7 g carbs coming from? Is it the lemons?

Lemon juice has 1.3g per Tbsp, lemon zest has 1g per Tbsp, rosemary has 0.8g per tsp (dried) and garlic has 1g per large clove. Some of that will be fiber ... so yes 7.7g sounds about right. I'm assuming that's for 4 servings .. so 2g per serving. That's not so bad .. if you chose a very low carb vegetable such as asparagus, and a small salad, that could be a filling meal for about 8g total.

Thanks for that... it never occurred to me that rosemary & garlic would have carbs. I guess i just think of them as spices, and i never usually bother counting spices.

The recipe was for 2 servings, but i suppose its still not too bad.

Thanks again Doreen.. you made me think!
