Whipped Cream... again

Hi Again all...

Well, I bought (or rather, INVESTED) in a whipped cream dispenser. It's so fantastic!

However, I feel a little bit like I have no idea what i'm doing. I put a pint of cream and 2 packets of splenda in there... assuming the splenda would go a long way. It just tastes like cream.

I really like Reddi-Whip and sweet stuff like that... and I noticed some of you all put syrup in your whipped cream...

What should I put into my dispenser with the cream and HOW MUCH? (Very important...)

Thanks so much everyone
Dara

I just use liquid splenda in mine. Remember that it liqid in there and that you need to put in enough splenda to make the whipped cream (More Volume). Try some more sweetener

In order to get the flavor right in my whipper I blend the cream, sweetener and vanilla in a measuring cup first - to taste. I've discovered I usually use 2-3 tbls of sweetener to a pint of cream.

Vanilla -- as in vanilla extract? Are there any carbs in this?

when I make whipped cream sometimes I mix up some da vinci syrup with the cream. I have done this with the german chocolate cake syrup that I have and it was yummy!!!! :yum:

I always mix the cream and the splenda first before I put them in the dispenser, otherwise it all sinks to the bottom. I've added the davinci syrups and vanilla also, just a tiny bit though for the vanilla otherwise you can taste the alcohol.

it depends on what brand you get...most store brands and the most popular brand (McCormick) are made of vanilla bean extract, water, alcohol, and corn syrup. be very careful when shopping for extracts so that you get one of the brands without corn syrup.

Fillers

Be aware of fillers in foods such as artificial sweeteners, fiber supplement mixes, sugar-free fruit drinks, sugar-free gelatin mixes, and other products that come as dry powders for mixing. The filler used is commonly maltodextrin, dextrose, or corn syrup solids, all made from manipulating the starch contained in corn. These additives are all carbohydrates and must be counted. In fact, all three of these fillers have the same glycemic index as does glucose. Dextrose is chemically equivalent to glucose.

Ian, where did you get the liquid splenda? Or was it an insider restaurant type purchase?

TIA :)
