Turtle?

Hi there! I have been on Atkins for a month and have lost 5 lbs.! I am definately a turtle. I think I might do some Richard Simmons tapes as I have had them for years!
I have lost 3 inches on most of my body.
I do not understand why there is a inch lost and not so much in pounds. Can anyone answer me?

Thanks, Karey

I am assuming you are eating a good deal of protien, some people are of the opinion that on this diet, your muscles are repairing themselves like they couldn't before - if you weren't eating the same amount of protien. Muscele is smaller than fat, so you may be gaining some muscel, but losing fat.

I don't think this can be repeated enough. MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT! AND MUSCLE TAKES UP LESS SPACE THAN FAT!
Many people face and are confused by this. You can actually gain weight while going down multiple dress sizes. Also, if you have been on low fat for a while, you can have a deficit in your muscles that your first weeks/months on Atkins will work at repairing, even without a lot of exercise.

Have patience. You are seeing visual results. You are losing fat! Atkins is working! For a lot of people a tape measure or a picture reading at periodic intervals offers a truer picture of their "fat" loss.

Thanks, We just had our Thanksgiving Turkey! I actually passed on potatoes! I have read some articles on the muscle vs. fat and I understand much better now.
Thanks for replying. It is nice to know that I have women to talk to regarding this diet.

Hi there Karey.....

The best way for anyone here in the forum to help you figure out whether you are a turtle or not, is for you to start a journal and post your daily menus. That was we can take a look and let you know if we see any areas that could be improved and hopefully give you better results. Without this information, it's really difficult to guess what might be going on.

Wishing you LC success.

Thanks Marlaine
I will start a journal as soon as I can. I have to read up on it as I don't really know where to start.
Thanks, again,
Have a good Thanksgiving weekend!

Karey
