Robert's P-nut/Choco Power Bars
Hi all --
I forget where I got the inspiration for this recipe, somewhere on the web. But I have changed it enough over time that I can post it now with my name -- also with my calorie/fat/carbs/protein calculations. First time I have tried to parse out the numbers like this, and if anyone notices anomalies please let me know. I usually also add some peanuts to this recipe, but did not figure them into the calculations. There is a major default in this recipe: the bars are too damn good. So you'll want to ration yourself to two a day ;) !! -- Robert Robert's P-nut/Choco Power Bars 1 1/2 jars of TJs no-sugar peanut butter (chunky or smooth -- TJ is the brand I use, but any brand is fine; no-sugar is the key) 3 bars butter 2 cups Designer Whey vanilla/praline protein powder 2 cups Designer Whey chocolate protein powder 1 cup Splenda -- Warm p-nut and melt butter in mike, combine -- Combine dry ingredients -- Combine wet and dry ingredients & pout into two square, glass brownie trays -- Refrigerate overnight, then cut into squares and store in plastic containers in freezer or refrige. Wow, this looks great - it never occurred to me to make my own bars...
I too love the Designer Whey powders - yummy! And, relatively cheap at TJs! But - from other threads, I read that Splenda can have up to 26g carb per cup, from the maltodextrin filler... I posted a question about this in the newbie forum tonight... I've been making flax muffins, recipe from one of the forums (I forget which), and those are pretty good; I love the idea of a bar - maybe I'll try that too. Thanks for posting! Inna |
