blockage on induction

I am day 2 of induction on atkins and I find it hard to ummmm...go when I want to go. I used to eat prunes and a plain yoghurt with flax in it at breakfast along with a LOT of food...among other things toast by the half loaf. I ate lots of fiberous stuff all day and night and drank alcohol and took metamucil at night.

Now I do not drink dont use metamucil dont eat prunes dont do flax or yoghurt....

I am doing about three gallons of water a day.

I find it easy enough to pass water but the other part of the equation is very hard to do yesterday and today....any ideas why?

Hey there
Your bowel is used to lots of bulk, and isn't getting any now.
Avocados are FULL of fibre and fat, and very low in net carbs. Eat them - I try to get in at least a half an avocado a day. Also, take metamucil or psyllium husk in water. This should move things along.
And I don't know if you've given up caffeine - IMHO, it's not necessary to give up caffeine - caffeine can stimulate your bowel. So can hot liquids. When I need a little "ooomph" in the morning, I drink a cup of hot tea down as fast as I can without burning myself.

Up-ing your cheese intake could be causing that problem too... ;)

I'm on day 7 of induction and have been having the same problem. I used to take Metamucil when I had similar problems in the past but noticed it's high in carbs so I gave it away. I tried the psyllium husk two days ago. I must say that it's not very pleasant tasting (especially compared to Metamucil), but it did do the trick after a couple doses. Next time perhaps I'll try the hot tea, or maybe the avocado..

Get some Magnesium supplements. Take then in the morning and at night. You will find this a big help.

Okay, so you'd have to take 16 capsules to get about 6 grams of fibre.

Ahhhhhh!

I hear you on the powdered stuff, though.

I make low-carb bran muffins, and put a quarter cup of psyllium husk in them with some extra water.

Works like a charm.
