Average rate of loss

Hi everyone,

I thought it might be interesting to get a feel for what is the average rate at which everyone is losing.

By taking the total number of lbs lost divided by the amount of time on LC, you get an average weekly rate.

For me: 27lbs / 11 weeks = average of 2.45 per week.

How about the rest of you?

Hi Lesley,

Always good to talk to someone from the antipodes!

I may be wrong, but I get the impression, in browsing around this forum, that most people's rate of weight loss slows down towards goal weight. This is conjectural, but I would think you might be able to get a fairly consistent average for the first two thirds of the journey, then a far slower rate with occasional backsliding for the last third.

Hopefully you will get some more replies to test this notion. If you wanted to conduct a survey, Wa'il (tamarian) would be the person to contact.

Good luck!

Andy

thanks Andy,

that's the same impression I get. It will be interesting to see.

I was just curious that some people rate themselves as turtles and I just wondered whether their loss was actually closer to normal than they might think.

Anyway - it will be fun to see :)

Rate of loss

I think that if you look at your loss in terms of percentages instead of 'lbs' you'll see a steady trend; 5% a month when you have 100 lbs to lose will not be the same as 5% with only 40 lbs left to lose.

My 2 cents

Approximately 27 lbs in 12 weeks.
2.25 lbs a week.

25 lbs. in 10.5 weeks = 2.25+ per week

Lesley, nothing like being misunderstood, ay? Unless its taking the time to post a detailed response to a query only to have it go unacknowledged. Trade places with you? ;)

LOL

I know how you feel about crawling into a hole - been there - it's dark. hee hee!

I have lost 13 #, from 186 in August to 173# today which averages out to 0.8125# per week. Progress is pretty slow around my neck of the woods, but is still progress just the same.

Also, I have fell off the wagon twice (both vacations to the grandparents) and have been losing the same 3-4# over and over. Time to stop that monkey business....lol!!!

SO, technically, I lost down to 169 which is 17 pounds, then gained to 174, then lost down to 170 then gained to 173. Which puts my TOTAL LOSS to 20 # or 1.25# per week. Wow. That really slaps it home that I need to knock it off!!

Many loss of pounds to all! :D

P.S. This will really be an interesting and motivating thread. I'll have to check back!!

My early average is 2.5 pounds a week -- but I lost 5 pounds of that the first few days.

Nat, I like the 5% a month idea -- it's a good goal to have, too, or at least a measuring stick, like reference jeans.

Hi everyone,

My average is 2.9 week...I use fitday.com and it's curious to see that my average is a lot higher in those first couple weeks, compared to now (you know, the excess water weight). I still have a way to go on my goal, but my averages are slowing down, but my craziness over the scale has also slowed down as well. I'm really very happy about it - last week I was thinking about bringing my scale home to my parents over Thanksgiving and I'm glad I left it...lol. Now, I don't need it nearly as much...sounds like I was slightly addicted or something...lol.

Good Luck everyone,
Erin

36 pounds in 16 weeks ... so I'm right at the 2.25 pounds/week too. Though it really comes in spurts.
