Induction phase...what's next

OK, I've done 2 weeks of induction. I lost 7lbs on the first week
and 5 on the next. How long do I do this or do I keep going????
I am not starving, but it would be nice to add a few more carbs a
day, however I like the missing weight also! I've go quite a ways
to go to get to my goal weight.

What have you other's on Atkins done? Advice please.
Any comments from other LC's is helpful and appreciated
as well.

Thanks.

Congrats happygill!!

It's really up to you. Some of us like to stay at induction level, and some up it up a little. It's your call, and whatever you're comfortable with.

It's really over to you. You can carry on with induction if you feel well and want to keep up a higher rate of loss. Or you can move into the next pahse (ongoing weight loss)

The Atkins ongoing weight loss phase, recommends adding carbs 5g at a time (in mostly green veges) up to a level where you can still sustain a loss. That level is different for everyone.

The book goes into quite a bit of detail about this - have you read it? If not it's a great investment to get hold of a copy.

Good luck

I just got a copy of it over the weekend and duh, the chapter
I am in is talking about induction and the different phases of
the diet.

I am trying to read it too fast.

Thanks for your help.

I would really like to be losing at least 3-5 lbs
a week. Is this possible?

everyone is different. I lost 11lbs on induction and have since kept losing at around 2 lbs per week. From what I gather that is quite good, others find it slower.

The key thing to remember is that it is a long term change of lifestile - a way of eating which you conver to for all time.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself to loose so fast, after all it took a while to get the weight on in the first plce ay? ;)

Don't be in such a hurry, Happy. It took you a while to gain the weight, it will take a while to lose it. In order for this to be a success it has to become a WOL for you. If you simply follow the plan as a "diet" the minute you go back to eating your old way the weight will start coming back on. There are so many wonderful benefits to eating LC, as I'm sure you've come to experience... enjoy all of them and let the weight loss be the proverbial icing on the cake. It has been demonstrated that faster weight loss is not the best course. If you lose it all overnight you learn nothing and *poof* it can be back just as quickly.

Enjoy the book and this forum, and sit back and enjoy the journey you're embarking on.

Thanks. I guess I am getting ahead of myself. I haven't had much results with any other diet, with this much ease.

Happy, I can totally relate. This WOL does work and it works on so many different levels :) Give it some time and you'll see just what we mean.
