New and Nervous!

Hello, I am new and a little nervous, as I have never really participated in a message board before. I have been low-carbing for several years, on and off. In June my doctor prescribed Paxil, along with my Depo shot, and I have gained 25 pounds. Needless to say, no more Depot, but I still need the Paxil. I started the Atkins program today, and will probably be on the Induction for about a month. Does anybody know if Paxil interferes with low-carbing?

Thanks.

I don't take Paxil, but there are LCers in this forum who do.

Paxil makes it somewhat more difficult to lose weight (on any diet), but it's NOT impossible. Some LCers have even found they can eventually go off the drugs (with their doctors' supervision, of course) after LCing for a while. I know that LCing helped my PMS immensely and has helped chronic depression in others.

May I suggest that you use the search function to search for Paxil and "show the results as posts".... there you can browse for the information you seek. There's also an Addiction/Depression sub-forum that may be of special help to you. Good luck!!

Don't worry, we don't bite. :)

When I was on depo, my weight gain actually got *worse* after I stopped taking it - ie after the next one would have been due. I had a lot of other crappy symptoms, too. It took almost a year until I was back to normal. :( I hope this isn't the case for you. Just a 'heads up' and a suggestion to be patient. ;)
