did something happen to the server

I was wondering if your server was hit with a virus or something? The pages have been loading very slow since last night. There was a lot of virus activity yesterday.

Hi Chewie,

What do you mean by "virus activity"?

Looks in perfect health from the server side.

Wa'il

About mid day yesterday, the forums/posts everything loads slowly. When you first bring the forum up only the top banners appear. Anything under the faq/search/home/logout icons doesn't appear. If you wait long enough, without being tempted to hit the refresh button, the rest of it shows up about 5 mins later. Otherwise you stare at a blank page.

I thought it was my computer at first, but I am in our office today using a totally different PC and network connections so I know it isn't my home computer.

Not sure what the deal is. But it is painful to wait on the site.

Yes, I heard from a few members they are experiencing a slow response, and I'm investigating this right now.

But this is no way relates to any viruses....

There was news yesterday of SQL being hit with a worm all across the country. I received 3 viruses myself yesterday. Norton caught all of them. They were different than the viruses that were hitting SQL. Here is a link.

Just for the record....everything is running fine here on my Mac on the Wet Coast. No delays, no problems of any kind, not last night and not this morning.

I'm getting frustrated because it is sooooo slow here. I have checked it out and have no problems elsewhere. I won't be making too many posts today...lol.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that one.

The good news is, we are not running on Windoze, nor on Microsoft SQL. We're using Linux and MySQL. :)

COMPUTER PROBLEM

I am on the east coast using a dsl connection and pages are downloading extremely slow. The problem started yesteday and continues today. I am not having any trouble with any other web sites. Hope the problem clears up soon as I have always enjoyed this site because of really fast connections and searches. No, there is no way I'm leaving; I just want (don't we always want something) the response time back.

O.k. guys, how is it doing now?

My computer acted the same way but the board is much faster today....

agonycat Thu, May-23-02 14:26

Much better Wa'il!

Thank you so much ;) I take it you found the problem?

chewie1012 Thu, May-23-02 14:42

Yeah! Thats the low carb forum I know and love. What was the problem? Great Job Wail!

Actually, it fixed itself while we were investigating.... so I don't have an answer yet. One thing for sure though, it has nothing to do with the load on the server. We've handled as much as 4 times today's load before with no problems.
