I love veggies

I am on day 6 and I have been reading and reading over & over again. I have ? I love salad and veggies but 3 cups is not enough for me. I am not a big meat eater so is it so bad if I eat more veggies? I have counted 8.5 carbs so far today. I am planning on going out with my DH and we are going to On the Border trying to decide what to have. I really want the ceasar salad with chicken but should I have the fajitas and only eat the meat and is it okay to go there for dinner. I am getting really confused sorry this is long and has lots of ?. Nanc

Personally, i think that the 3 cups thing is only a guideline. If you are low in carbs for the day, i don't see a problem with having some more low carb veggies (as not to exceed your 20carb a day limit)... you get nutrients from them!! :)

I've been reading the Protein Power book and taking the best from both worlds. I've been in ketosis on 30 grams of carbs - no problem, just like protein power says (IF - and this is a big IF - you will count your carbs very carefully, like in fitday.com). I wouldn't sweat eating more veggies - I do it myself.

I think eating fake foods is much worse even if they are lower carb.

For what it's worth,

My understanding is

that you keep your carb total at 20gr. So, if you're not ingesting other things that add to your carb count, such as Splenda. I don't see any harm in eating 20gr of carbs. That is non-starchy carbs. The lists are on pages 125 and 126. If you can hang on for just one more week, you can increase your acceptable vegetables as long as it doesn't stop your weight loss..

I have tested my ketones and I am moderate. So I must be doing something right. I have not lost yet though. Is that ok?

It's possible that you are

metabolically resistant. You may want to try to eat more meats, as it doesn't sound as if the appetite suppresant (sp?) aspect has kicked in for you. Also, what kind of salad dressing are you using? You might want to make sure it has no sugar. Walden's sugar free Ranch is good. I found it in Winn Dixie.

But, even though the scale hasn't moved for you, are your clothes feeling any looser?

I didn't lose my first time on induction because I was just plain eating too many calories.
