Anyone a breast cancer survivor taking tamoxifen?
 

Hi, I'm new to these boards. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to lose while under treatment for breast cancer.

I am a 2x survivor and I have been taking tamoxifen for 1.5 years now and most woment that take this med are gaining weight.

Which has happened in my case. I have gained 20 lbs and had an extra 30 to start with.

I just would like to know if this WOE is effective even under these constraints. l

I've been taking tamoxifen for three years. I don't think that the tamoxifen made me gain weight because my big weight gain took place in year three.

I've just lost 20 pounds on Atkins.

I took tamoxifen for 4.5 years and gained SOOOO much weight. And the worst part is that for the first year after that, I could not budge the weight. Thank God for Atkins!

Between the tamoxifen and my thyroid not wanting to work ... I was up a creek. But, yes, I've heard many, many stories of weight gain on tamoxifen.

I had my surgery and treatment in '96, and took the tamoxifen until 2001. And until I started Atkins last September, nothing worked.
