Easter is coming

And with it comes the masses of chocolate on the shelves of just about every store you pass.....

I was in Darrel Lea yesterday when I was out shopping and saw that they are making their low carb chocolate into Bunnies for easter!!!, although they no longer make the LC choco macadamia nuts, they still do the almonds and the DL store near me also stocks several items of other kinds of sf lollies/jubes/chocolate etc.....

Most are sweetened with Malitol so be careful but for those of us who can stomach it, it gives us a way of having some choccie without blowing the WOL.....

Just thought you'd like to know

Hi Fee,

Yes Easter is around the corner and I am not looking forward to it at all. I live in the country and lucky enough dont have any darrell lea shops near by but boy that low carb chocky sounds delicious didnt even know such a thing was available.
Can you safely eat one? Its not just the eggs that are a problem its all the socialising that goes with it hopefully I will have made a little dent into my weight by then. :) and learnt to say no!!!!

Except for the price!

The DL easter bunny is around $6-7, but the bars are only $2.20, so while the bunnies are more representative of Easter I think I'll have to stick with the bars.

Although I want my weight to go down I don't want the same thing happening to my bank balance and also I'm having a really hard time coping with the fact that I will have to try and stop myself from buying Cadbury's. :(

No Hot Cross Buns

Easter = Hot Cross Buns

Not being a big chocolate eater that wont bother me BUT NO HOT CROSS BUNS will be a real challenge -just adore them -looked on one packet the other day and each bun was worth 26 carbs - maybe I can have just one somewhere along the line !! But will I be able to stop at one???

You're so right!

I love my Hot X Buns warm and soaked in butter. I might sneak just one in, but then who can stop at just one! :daze:

carb free bar

Guys,
Be careful. I don't think that those "carb free bars" are all they're cracked up to be. Look at the total calories per piece for the Daryl Lea bar (40 calories) then for the protein 1g = 4 calories and the 3g of fat = 27 calories then there is still 9 calories missing. Divide 9 by 4 gives you at least 2 grams of carbs. So seeing as there are 6 pieces per bar, that's 12 hidden carbs in the bar? The main ingredient is lacitol, which is an alcohol sugar and has carbs (half that of sugar at the larger estimate to be safe). You're best to stick to a bit of cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
Please inform me of any difference to this for I'm a devoted chocoholic.

If you can eat chocolate in moderation then in Adelaide in David Jones food store, there is a french chocolate ($10.75/100gm block) that is orgasmic chocolate. It's dark chocolate with 24gm of carbs/100gm block (the lowest carb one that I've found yet). It's so rich and dark that you could only eat half (50gm), feel more satisfied than that the Daryl Lea crap stuff, not get the runs for the same amout of carbs!

Hope this helps!

Does anyone know about that carb free or low carb peter's ice-cream that can supposedly be bought at Bi-Lo in Adelaide? Please tell me where.

Think that just put me right off the LC Bars. Aah well, prefer a nice bit of "smelly" cheese anyway - lol
