Food lists what we can and cannot eat

Hello everyone,

I want to thank all those who have answered my previous questions, I appreciate it :)

I'm in day 5 and have lost 6 pounds...woohoo! Having a hard time though with foods we can eat during induction, seems to be some contradictions. Like people eating bacon even though there is sugar in it and mayonaise. Anyway my question here is this.

Is there a list of foods that being on the Atkins diet we are NOT suppose to ever eat? I was talking to someone last night who is also on the Atkins diet and they said no milk ever. Is that true? What about half and half. Along with other foods.

Thanks so much.

check out the Atkins site-they have lists of allowed foods-and the Doc says if the food isn't on the list-don't eat it.

I've looked at the Atkins site and I cannot find a list of acceptable foods except those for induction. They must have them hidden someplace on their website.

I found this on the Atkins website for allowable foods during induction. Go to this link http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15-464579.html

Hope that helps and good luck!!

Thanks for the link. But I'm looking for the entire list. In a week I'll be off induction and want to know what I can and cannot have then.

Look under OWL-moving beyond berries.
You will basically just start eating more veggies and select fruits as you go up in carbs.

It's for Step 2 after induction. Explains how the rules of eating changes etc. Also, if you get the book, that will really help and explain everything!!! It becomes almost like your eating bible.

I go to Madison quite a bit for Badger games etc... My girlfriend has a daughter that lives there and just graduated so we go party with her and her friends sometimes! What a party town!!! But it's always a GREAT time!

Boy pretty chilly in WI today... Brrrrrr

Good luck :yay: :yay: :yay:

I printed it out and kept it in the kitchen while I was on induction.

Good luck and congratulations on your progress so far!

While you are on induction the list if very strict. AS you move through OWL it becomes more of your responsibility to regulate your eating habits. You find out how many carbs you can tolerate and what kinds. For some people they can never eat wheat, others have no problem.

When you move on to maintanance your food choices are based on how many carbs you can tolerate. Some carb sources have more nutricional value then others and more of an impact on your blood sugar levels. If you get to maintanance and find you have a very high carb tolerence and you miss milk, then by all means add it. Atkins even states a very rare piece of cake or icecream on maintanance won't kill you, as long as it doesn't send you into a bings or you suffer carb creep.

On maintananc eyou can also stager your carbs more having mroe then your CCL one day, then less the next as long as the week evens out. You can't do this on OWL or induction becaus eof insulin spikes, you need a steady carb intake daily.

If you are really missing milk now, try Soy Slender. It is a soy milk sweetened with splenda that only has 1 net carb for an 8 oz glass. It also doesn't taste much like soy milk, tasting more like regular.

If you are worried about calcium, then read where Atkins talks about calcium. There is great calcium sources that are also LC including veggies, cheeses, yogurt, cottage cheese and so on.

I was never a big milk drinker and usually only used milk as an additive. So now I just use cream mixed with water. While on induction you have to limit your use of cream though.
