Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

What are the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar? I have heard that drinking 1 tablespoon a day helps aging/dieting but what else? Opinions Welcome! Thanks!

Drastically cleared up my persistent (moderate) adult acne. I take 3 tbsp when I wake and before I go to bed.

Here's an article about vinegar on Dr. Mercola's site. http://www.mercola.com/2005/jan/22/vinegar_diabetes.htm It's supposedly helpful for diabetes and pre-diabetic conditions and WEIGHT LOSS.

Here's another interesting article: http://www.lacetoleather.com/wonderdrug.html [url]
Maybe the grocery store variety is not where the real benefits are!

I know there was something said about it in the fat flush diet book. But don't really recall what it said to be good for. (I had borrowed the book from the library)

I have a patient who uses it for healing...she uses it on her skin in the shower, and gargles with it if she's feeling ill. She swears it works...i know that she had me gargle with it when i lost my voice and almost immediately i began feeling better. Coincidence? Probably not. It's supposed to remove impurities..but i dunno about actually drinking it.

My uncle has diabetes and if there is one day that its too high he will take apple cider and when he checks in the evening for the results on that little machine he carries around for diabetes it went down to normal...he swears by it...

Vinegar is awesome, good for cleaning, killing athletes feet (or other fungi), sunburn pain, mix with baking soda for fabric softener, and hey-you can eat it too! makes great salad dressing.

ACV is also very good for the digestion...at least in my experience. It also makes a wicked vinegar and oil slald dressing and is awesome as the base for my LC coleslaw!

I have posted this elsewhere, but there is a host of information about ACV on the site...

Here's a good place to look if you'd like more info about it:

I TOTALLY believe in it-- I take 2 teaspoons with water every night and every morning. The biggest thing I've noticed is it cured my insomnia and I sleep super soundly and wake up refreshed. I know it's made a lot of other differences in my life, but I've made so many other positive (health) changes at the same time that I started taking ACV, so it's hard to pinpoint if the ACV is responsible for any one benefit in particular...

Cure insomnia??? Really?? I gotta get me some of that then... :D

GREAT WEBSITE PROVIDED ProfGumby, thanks! :)

... another great thing it does, is if you're hungry and can't prepare something to eat right away, take 2 tsp of ACV with water, and it's a great appetite suppressant! (BTW, use Bragg's or another organic type of ACV with the "mother" -- DO NOT use commercially processed ACV at the regular grocery store)

Taste great in salad other then that i didnt notice any benefits.

chelles Thu, Apr-06-06 14:55

Wouldn't it be great if the answer to every health problem ever was ACV? I've heard it cures cancer, arthritis, obesity, depression...

I searched high and low for any studies supporting any health benefit of ACV. Couldn't find any at all. Not even one purported health benefit supported by any scientific (double-blind) studies.

Anecdotal evidence doesn't cut it for me. I do use it all the time around the house and on my face, though.
