30 day results
I just got my lab results back, I'm so excited
In 30 days I have changed nearly all of my lab values A1C was 8.1 now 6.7, doc wants is below 7 but I am going for below 6, where a non diabetic person's range is Triglycerides were 237 now 148, doc is very happy with this number as below 150 is in range......... LDL was 292 now 114, doc is amazed at this drastic decrease in only 30 days, she wants me to get it below 100 Total cholesteral was 326 now 180, which is a good number but i still have to change the ratio and lower my LDL and raise my HDL Unchanged is my HDL at 36, Doc wants it at least 55 Unchanged are my liver function tests........they are still coming down but so slow that specialist may still want to do a biopsy (yikes) And last but not least I am down 20 pounds so far I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that changing my diet and exercising would bring such drastic changes in such a short time |
Good for you! It's seeing results like that that gives us the incentive to keep it up when temptation rears its head, isn't it?

Awesome!
I posted here this morning, and so glad I found you again.. after they lost the posts from the upgrade glitching... So glad you have been able to control the diabetes w/out meds..I am so looking forward to one day not being on any.. hopefully!!! I haven't really read much about the diabetic exchange.. going to have to now! Have a great day! |
Congratulation sugarpie...impressive numbers. It's amazing what a little common sense and dedication can do for us isn't it...??
Keep On Keepin' On.....:) |
Sugarpie... great results! I am similar to you... I was DX in December, and I have really focused on getting the best control possible. I'm glad to see that you are taking this same approach.

Congratulations Sugarpie (great nic btw)! Think of how much difference a year will make, if 30 days can do all that! Go for it!
Best Wishes, Sherry |
Way to go, sugarpie! Fantastic results in 30 days!

Thank you all for your words of encouragement
I am just so excited I no longer feel as though I am at death's door |
Sugarpie,
I think that you have registered over on Dr B's forum as well. A lot of people there go for very tight control, and it seems that you are ready to make that jump. I encourage you to participate more there as well as this forum. /Jim |
I second that, Jim. We'd love you to join us over there, Sugarpie.

Thank you for the invitation, I'm not real sure I can find my back there, and I am alittle intimidated, everything that I read there seemed so far over my head, I really didn't understand much of what I was reading and I'm really not sure I have "tight" controll yet, I have my moments, and I cheat a little tiny bit every now and then but since you all invited me I think I will stop on by every now and then just to see what i can learn.......be prepared for a lot of questions
again thank you for the invitation |
To find us again, go to www.diabetes-book.com and click on Diabetes Forum. Don't worry about not understanding it all - most of us didn't when we started, but we sure learn from each other. People are extremely helpful and genuinely want to help. Many of us have found the support and the caring attitude of other forum members a tremendous help.

From a newby's point of view, what was once over my head is now part of my thought process and way of life-- I highly recommend the bernstein website. Aside from being informative, there is a court jester or two to take the edge off the seriousness of all of this. They got the luv!

you guys are so nice, I will stop by there tomorrow Ihope it doesn't matter that i haven't read Dr B's book, and for right now i'm just kind of doing my own thing.........maybe I'll pop into the library and see if they have the book...........
thanks for being so nice, it makes me feel good inside |
Sugarpie,
I think that by going to a low carb WOE... you have already made the largest single jump necessary. It probably does not matter a lot if you are doing atkins, or SBD, or anything else low carb... my guess is that it gets you 80% of the way there. What you will learn with Dr B is how to really fine tune it to the needs of a diabetic, and how to really get great control. I think that you will enjoy it. /Jim |
