Hello to low carbers out there!

Just joined the forum and planning to start after x'mas, I've tried the Atkins before and lasted a week. I found eating so much meat difficult and I'm not a huge fish lover, any suggestions on how to stay interested?

Great to be here, this is the first support site I've tried so I'm hoping it will help me succeed this time.

Hello Bountiful, Are you sure Atkins is the right LC plan for you? There are alot of plans out there, and you don't have to eat so much meat on the other plans. The first two weeks of Atkins (induction) is the most important part though. Did you ever read http://www.lowcarb.ca/atkins-diet-and-low-carb-plans/ to make sure it is the right plan for you. I started atkins first because I never heard of the other plans. I'm a happy CAD person right now. If you read through the link I provided you may change your mind. I am on my 3rd LC book and plan on reading more of them. Congrats on choosing this forum and starting your journal. Have fun over the holidays and good luck to you in whatever you choose.

Hi and welcome. I'm not a huge meat fan, either. I don't like steak and I'm not a big chicken fan. My way of staying interested is creativity, I guess you could say. :)

On induction, you can emphasize the eggs and cheese rather than meat, and get more fat from dressings, butter, olive oil, etc. I tend to prefer sausage, pepperoni and other processed meats, but I keep an eye on the carb counts. :exclm:

I eat a lot of vegetarian 'meat-alikes' since my b/f is a vegetarian. Those are an option once you're off induction. They're a little higher in carbs.

When I do eat meat, I usually put it 'in' something else, such as soup, chili, or salads. Think (bunless) burgers or hot dogs; home made beef stew, or caesar salad with chicken and real bacon bits. :yum:

I've been at this since last March, and I have yet to be truely bored. Good luck! :)
