eating after eight pm

i am just finishing my fisfth day ont he atkins diet now and i feel really great. i have also joined a gym and have enrolled in a spinning class and a yoga class. i definetely feel like i am on the roaad to success and i know this board has a lot to do with it. thank you to everyone.
my question is... is it okay to eat late at night (lo carb foods that is)? or is this a bad idea. i have heard a saying ´´eat after eight gain a lot of weight´´. is this true??

The rule of thumb that I follow is not to eat 4 hours prior to going to bed. I find that it accelerates my weight loss if I stick to this rule. I dont eat anything after 5pm which is really hard but that way I can go to bed by 10:D

missypants,
if you are really getting hunger pangs eat a small snack, otherwise don't eat because your body will spend energy digesting the food etc, when it should rest and rejuvenate while sleeping. Whether or not it stalls weight loss, i always feel 'better' and more energetic the next morning than if i ate something , i tend to feel sluggish.

I agree

A boiled egg, or an ounce of cheese or leftover cold meat would be about 7g protein, so that shouldn't stress the system. Your digestive tract needs to rest too, and can't if you go to bed with a full stomach. 5 or 6 pork rinds would probably be ok too.
