Words that will never pass our lips again
Me to 5-year-old: You should eat your peas--they're good for you!
5-year-old to me: But I don't LIKE peas! 5-year-old to me: I don't LIKE rice! Me to 5-year-old: But you should eat some at least--you'll probably learn to like it one day. Me to 5-year-old: What's wrong with the spaghetti? 5-year-old to me: I don't like the spaghetti! Me to 5-year-old: But I really thought you liked that kind of gravy on your potatoes! |
Heh, cute. Substitute the whining with: "I don't LIKE salad!" and, "Meat again?!?" :D

LOL! Luckily my 5-year-old is a salad fanatic! Tonight I was fixing his salad. The conversation went thus (M=me; W=5-year-old):
M: Lettuce? W: Yes. M: Green onions? W: Yes, a little. M: Cucumbers? W: Yes, a little. M: Radishes? W: A slice. M: Green peppers? W: Never touch them. M: Dressing? W: Bleu cheese. M: Croutons? (He gets croutons even though no one else does.) W: Two or three Such a hoot! I've noticed, too, he eats his dinner a LOT better when it's light on carbs, and doesn't usually get hungry before bedtime. He does get plenty of carbs, though--had a cookie this afternoon, drinks milk, half peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich occasionally--the normal kid stuff, just in moderation. But he is learning good eating habits that may just prevent him a lot of problems later on (if he's anything like the rest of the family). |
