Neanderthin and Bone Density

Hello,
I have been doing a low carb diet now for one year, first Atkins, and now Neanderthin for the last 2 months. I had my bone density checked last year right before I started Atkins. It was borderline low at that time. (I had been on the Weight Watchers Diet for the previous2 years and had lost 50lbs.)

My question is, should I expect an increase in bone density now, and by how much? Has anyone else had this checked out?

I love the Neanderthin Diet. After being on it for only 6 weeks, I was able to stop taking the Allergy medication I have been taking daily for the last 15 years. And I live in Florida, all pollen, all the time, espcially now.

Thanks in advance,
batgirl

Batgirl: Welcome to the hunter-gatherer lifestyle. I'm not sure about the bone-density cause I've never had mine checked, but I know that my bones (joints) no longer hurt and I can now move as fast or faster than people half my age. The fact that your allergies are almost completely cured reflects that you are on the right path. Good luck to you.

You can expect an increase in bone density. I don't know how much but more diets, expect lc, are deficient in providing enough protein for muscles and bone.

Just from personal experience, my bone density increased dramatically. I've been doing modified Neanderthin for many months. After starting lc, I gained weight, first a lot of muscle mass. But I reached a plateau with increasing muscle and still gained some weight. It has to be bone. Back in the fall I had my bone density checked and it was something like 10% denser than the average thirty year old woman. I bet it is even higher now.

Thanks everyone!

My first instinct was that it should increase, but I am a worrier. At least I can relax now and wait to get it checked at the normal time.
