Intro

 Hi, my name is Terri and I started doing Atkins on 4/22 after talking to a friend who has lost 60 pounds over the last year or so. She said she lost the first 30 doing Atkins and then just started eating smaller portions. My idea was just to give it a try, but the further along I get the more I think I can stick with this. I've already lost 10 pounds, so I'm really motivated. I've never lost this much weight in such a short time before. I've gone from 150 to 140 and would like to get to 125. I happened on to this forum and it seems like there is a lot of good advice. I just finished Induction and am about half-way thru the book. Induction was pretty difficult for me, cuz I'm an absolute carb addict, but it seems to be getting easier now. I cheated yesterday and had some cookies at my daughter's piano recital, but afterward I felt really bad about it and don't intend to do that again. My ketosis stick showed that I was on my way out of ketosis, but not completely, so I got back on track today. I have to admit, I am really worried about having to go the rest of my life without good ole choco chip cookies, but I am slowly discovering some tasty alternatives. This is really a great site. I look forward to participating.

Hello Terri and welcome to the forum.
Congradulations on your success so far. :cheer:

I think the induction is hard for everyone. But once it's over, it's smooth sailing for then on. Good luck on you new low carb journey.

Hi Terri

Welcome to this forum. Isn't it great to loose so much weight during induction, as you say, a real motivator. Glad you have found some alternatives to the chip cookies, once you get well into low carbing then you will be able to have the odd one now and again, provided you programme it in. By then of course you may have lost your taste for sugar.

Low carbing is a great way of life, and if you think you might be tempted to wander away from it, then start a journal on this site. Not only will it map your progress, but it will also be a place for others to visit and support and motivate you in the good and bad times.

Every success.
