Give me strength

HI! I have been doing Atkins for the second time for about a week (tomorrow's a week). I have been very successful wiht it in the past but from Christmas on really just didn't stay committed. WEll, I am committed again but am struggling TODAY. I WANT CHOCOLATE - We have all my kids Easter candy and up until now I have not wanted it but i really really want some. I know this WOL is what I need and I know I am only into the first week of induction but man am I struggling today. Any ideas on what I can eat instead of THAT.......

Everyone on here has such great thoughts, ideas, and sharing and I thank you for that. I hope to be able to share at some point as well.

thanks

you could try some of the pur-delight bars--they are very good

or I just tried the mock danish tonight and people have several different variations on this---maybe some da vinci chocolate syrup??

also if you are near your TOM don't beat yourself up for these cravings---they could be totally normal

When I get a chocolate urge I usually go for something with lots of fat. I ran into trouble with the sf russel stovers. DOn't buy them they just want you to eat them! ha
I restarted induction yesterday and I am doing pretty good. Maybe you could make some type of an egg. They usually take care of any urge I have.
Good luck... oh yeah I love my Pampered Chef stuff. I think I have about everything in the book. My favorite is the food chopper! Lori

Try some sugar free jello with whipped heavy whipping cream on top. This really helped me get over any sweets craving when I was going through Induction. Or you could make an Atkins chocolate shake for a meal replacement.

It sounds like your struggling to do a clean induction. Keep reminding youself WHY you are doing this WOE and know that the cravings will become something in the past.

Good luck. (& if the kids haven't eaten the Easter candy by now, toss it out so it won't tempt you;)

You did the first thing to being successful, you came and posted here, when I feel that I might lose it and gooble up a whole chocolate rabbit, or eat a plate of pasta, I come here with my water bottle in hand, and just read, read, read and look at the photos of all the people who are doing this and have had success doing this.

The great group atmosphere can help you stay commited, but you must really want to change as well. Keep it up, it works, and it is working so their is no reason not to let it work.

I can totally relate. Thanks to PMS I was also tempted to attack the Easter Basket left on the table, in hopes to satisfy my outragous desire for chocolate. Instead I mixed some cream cheese with flavored syrup & ate that followed by a huge glass of water. Not Easter candy, but I feel a lot better about myself.
If my craving continues, I'm planning on throwing the contents of the Easter basket away...
By the way, I LOVE pampered chef (almost as much as chocolate)...

Hi Cathy!

Oh.. I really understand this one!

When those cravings hit I do two things:

1. Run fast to the bathroom and brush your teeth - can you imagine eating chocolate right after brushing your teeth? Ugh!

2. I keep a couple packs of Altoid's Cinnamon breath strips around (they are sweetened w/ Splenda). The cinnamon is so intense that the thought of adding ANY food to your mouth is unthinkable.

I keep this up until it passes and drink tons of water.

thank you thank you thank you!!!

I made it through the night wihtout the chocolate - And no there is NO Way I could throw out the Easter Candy. My husband would be furious not to mention my kids :)

I did have a snack of sorts - peanut butter and heavy whipping cream with a little splenda added. It was good. Your encouargement was/is great.

take care,
