Shoes

For those of you that run, what brand of shoes do you prefer? I have tried two different nike running shoes and hated them esp the shox. I have also tried new balance because so many people like them but I thought those were uncomfortable too. I pronate (spelled that wrong I'm sure) and get stress fractures easily.

i quite like new balance because i have narrow feet.

a lot of magazines like runner's world will dedicate a section of the magazine occasionally to "best shoes for each foot type" sorts of things.

i nabbed this off a site:
Quote:
Excessive pronation is the most common cause of running injury. A pronated foot rolls inwards at the ankle, the midfoot bulges inwards and the longitudinal arch flattens. Those who over-pronate generally have very flexible and unstable feet, so need running shoes with a lot of motion control. A motion control shoe has design features that give a high level of support - a firmer anti-pronation post on the inside of the midsole; a firm or dual density midsole; and a a firm heel counter.

this might help you because it has shoe recommendations: http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/news/article.asp?UAN=481

Hi Pandora,

I wear Saucony 3d Grid Web. I have small narrow feet (size 6) and I love them! Good luck!

I love New Balance for walking/running.

Saucony hurt my feet so bad I couldn't walk 1/10th of a mile. I have really high arches, NB works great.

Pandora -
Please go to a RUNNING SPECIALTY Store. You will save yourself a lot of pain, and money by getting someone who is knowsledgeable to help you out. There is no one good shoe. I personally hate all NIke running shoes, because they don't work for my feet.
Things to consider when buying shoes, are your feet wide or narrow, do you have high or low, or NO arches, do you have bunions, do you pronate (if you are flat footed you probably pronate) are you runnign trails or roads, are you heavy or light, etc.
I personally love Saucony 3d Grid Hurricane. I ahve flat feet, with narrow heels and wide ball of foot, and I pronate. I also liket he New Balance 904's for my trail running.
