Atkin's diet and CORTISOL levels.

Hello everyone, it has been a while

I was wondering what effect Atkin's diet has on cortisol levels. I have heard that carbs are exactly what is needed to keep cortisol levels down??? Just a quick question I have for anybody who could give me as much information as possible. Responses would be much appreciated.

Javy, you might want to have a read through this thread - it address the issue cortisol as it relates to training / exercising.

You might also want to have a look for The Schwarzbeine Principle II - Dr. S spends some time discussing how to balance cortisol, insulin and adrenaline while maintaining a lower carb way of eating.

Nat, I have a Q for you. I have had a history of high cortisol level and at last test, it was down due to taking gingko and fish oil. NOw here's the problem: I am going to get it tested this week, but the only time can get into the doc is about 2 hours after a 2 hour workout. I normally take L carnitine pre workout and l glutamine post workout...plus I take 2 glucose jelly beans immediately after. Will this be enough to deal with the problem of post-workout elevation of cortisol? (I don't want to miss this exercise as it includes a favorite class)

Thanks,

Val
