Anybody read Delay don't Deny?
It's OMAD with zero calories and zero sweetness beverages during the fasting period.
I'm starting it today because the OMAD allows for some carbs which I've discovered I need to keep Serotonin levels up. Clean keto and super low carb killed my adrenals and caused huge stress response for me. So, in my opinion, it's very similar to Rachel Heller's personal weight loss story, not the CAD plan in the book where there are 2LC meals and a RM. Not sure if she drank diet beverages during her fasting periods but possibly. I'm going to avoid any sweetness for 23 hours and eat the family meal as usual. I might have my coffee with cream at supper, have to monitor if it will keep me awake. We are not dessert people so that won't be an issue. Also, we naturally cook and eat semi LC as we've come to prefer those types of recipes. Occasionally, will have something pretty carby just because. |
A link to the book:
https://www.amazon.com/Delay-Dont-D...e/dp/1541325842 The author has a podcast as well: https://ifpodcast.com/ I have not read it, but I did OMAD quite a bit last year. I thought it was going to be my long-term solution. My hair fell out for the first time ever, no matter how much weight I'd lost in the past. I suspect it was either not enough protein or not enough calories. Both, perhaps. See this post, advice from Dr. Fung's IDM program: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showpost...2&postcount=990 Quote:
I'd like to do Alternate Day fasting, but I seem to lack the discipline lately. I am eating in an 8 hr window though. |
Hi, glad you chimed in. I'm grateful for you posting this.

I think this is a good idea, previously, when I've tried OMAD, I had good results doing a 36 hour fast a couple of times. I also plan, maybe twice a month, to have regular eating days with 3 meals. I've learned that when I feel extra super hungry that I should eat. Maybe not hi carb but LCHF which I naturally gravitate to. I'm planning a decadent cheese ball for Friday, may have a two or 3 hour window, I'll see. |
Hi Deb !!
I did OMAD for 37 days, with a couple days of 2 meals as planned; I liked it. Not long term though, as I noticed any significant amount ( as my body measured that) caused me to fall asleep so I really had to stay LC to avoid this. I have low serotonin issues and regularly use 5-HTP to build up serotonin levels, then back it up with St Johns Wort as the SSRI. See Dr Daniel AMen's book Healing ADD for the details. This works for both my son and I. Though he can eat potatoes, etc to help. He starts the morning with the support supplements. |
Thanks Ms. Arielle for those support ideas. I'll look into the both of them. Do you take them at any special time of day?
|
Yes, am. With another 5HTP in afternoon. There r side effects so do read up on both. Can make u sleepy and increase risk of sunburnt and not for bipolars.
