My mother's success story!

:cheer: :cheer: TEN POUNDS ARE GONE! :cheer: :cheer:

I started my low carb way of life last Wednesday. :yay: Seeing my mother after surgery drove home the reality of needing to be healthy in life. I witnessed her pay off this week!

My mother just had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction at the same time. :tears: BIG JOB! She looks wonderful and is recovering remarkably. :dazzle: My mother has followed the Low Carb way of life since Atkins came out in the 70's. :cheer: When we checked her into the hospital they asked her what medications she was on at this time. She is taking blood pressure medication and one other one. She is 63 today :bday: and is healthier than her children, ages ranging from 37 to 50. I'm 45 and on 7 different medications! I could rid myself of a few of these medications simply by loosing weight.

I finally grabed myself by the boot straps last week and said, "Get your act together, NOW!" I have been suffering with pain and the inablility to do the things I like to do for what? Cake, cookies, candy (my weakness)? :nono: No.... If I ever get breast cancer, I want to be as healthy as I can to fight back. Not weak and worn out because I didn't want to walk away from foods I know are not healthy for me.

Recovering Nicely, :rheart: Ela

Ela,

I'm so glad to hear that your mother is recovering from her surgery....and , wow! she's been following the program since the 70's...now that's commitment. I have a friend who's been following this WOE for 5 years...and, I thought that was awesome!

Congratulations on your 10 pounds... keep up the good work

Your story is a real inspiration!
Your right...now is the time to get healthy !
:) I'm having to get myself by the bootstraps and do the same thing!
We just have to keep our minds focused on the reward of getting to live longer and happier (and healthier)....
Lots of Luck !!!
