Best time to weigh???

May seem silly..I'm wondering when the best time to weigh is. My instinct tells me first thing in the mornings. ?????????

I had planned on weighing today at my moms..but I haven't made it over there yet and its getting to be late in the day...excuses excuses excuses!! I just don't want disapointment...this will be my first time to weigh since the 9th!

Come on.....tell me the mornings are better!!!!!!!!!! Pwetty pweeze?????????????? :D

Usually, I try to weigh immediately before my first meal of the day. But, when I was eating 4 small meals a day, I actually reached my lowest weight between my first and second meals.

I generally believe first thing in the morning, barenaked, with an empty bladder. ;)

The reason I like this time (besides the lower number) is that it cuts down on variables like meals and drinking water that will add weight to the tummy. This is probably closest to having less external items lingering in the body.

The key is consistency. The number shouldn't matter as much as the downward trend. ;)

I agree with Skamito, and it also helps if you have a dump first thing in the morning.

Yep and Yep!

I second Skamito and Groggy. Also, don't forget to blow your nose first. Blow Hard!!!!!

Lol. I have very long hair and even had my husband hold it up once. You would be *amazed* how much really long hairs weighs!

Seriously, though, first thing in the morning, because thats when we weigh our least. While you sleep, your body is busy at work repairing and building muscles, metabolism is in high speed. You aren't adding water and meals while you sleep, and should be the longest time you go per day without intake.

Fantasia: LOL! I have nearly waist-length hair, and you're right -- it's HEAVY! I cut almost two feet off right before I graduated from college, and for days, every time I turned my head, I about gave myself whiplash. My braid weighs about half a pound on the postal scale, two pounds when wet. Needless to say, I always weigh before a shower :). When I was about a pound above goal weight, my fiance told me just to cut my hair off, and I'd be there!

Of course, I don't think my hair weighs quite that much after my big weight-loss shedding bout. Those of you who have lost hair after losing weight will know what I mean, but it's a lot worse when each hair is two feet long!

I've found standing on one foot helpful. That left leg must weigh a good 10 pounds all by itself!

orzabelle Thu, Apr-17-03 14:02

Resting your fingers on something when you get on the scale, and then sloooooowly lifting them away is also a nice trick.

Ahahaha i have waist-length hair as well, and well, I've always wondered how much Id weigh without it..! Usually when I weigh myself, its after I get up and pee and hopefully crap.. nod..

What I'll do is, after I get up, I'll get on the computer for a little bit and let myself wake up.. make sure theres nothing in the bladder and such..then, before shower, before diet coke, I weight myself.. usually 3 times, sometimes 4, (in a row) cause my scale always gives a different number.. then I'll take the number that showed up the most and use that one as my weight.. :D

I like to weigh myself first thing also. The experts say the ideal method of weighing yourself for accuracy is to make sure you use the same scale at the same time of day, wearing (or not wearing) the same clothing. :p
