life sucks

I've been on induction for about 3 months now, and i've onlt managed to loose 5lb, and it pisses me off. Please help.

hey_Neener Thu, Oct-09-03 10:19

I may be doing my math wrong, but 164cm /2.2 and converted to feet, I figure you at about six foot 2. Your body is fighting for its existance!

relliott1 Thu, Oct-09-03 10:19

You don't have very much to lose and you are at a pretty low weight already, so your loss is going to be very slow. I would say 5 lbs in 3 mos for someone at your weight is pretty normal.

2Airedales Thu, Oct-09-03 10:28

I did the math you are 5'3" and weigh 105 lbs.
No offense but you are already thin!

The less lbs you want ti lose the harder it's going to be. I have 25 lbs to go but It's very hard to lose, I'm not loking forward to those lat 5 lbs!

hey_Neener Thu, Oct-09-03 10:38

5'3" would be a hell of a lot more reasonable for 100 pounds!

satihap Thu, Oct-09-03 12:29

oh my gosh- 5'3 and 100 lbs? that is your goal? your body is trying to survive- its holding on to whatever calories/carbs/fat etc you are feeding it. that is TOO low of a weight. don't you want to look healthy? you are already thin- any thinner and you will start to look sicky. please relax and revert to a healthy lifestyle- i speak from experience...

Im not that thin, i still have fat on my legs and waist, and im despretly trying to get rid of it. Today i've started what i call atkins crash diet, basicly what i';ll be eating for the next five days is, 2oz of brie cheese 5 times a day. Wish me luck :)

jaykay Fri, Oct-10-03 12:16

I wish you luck in being happy about your body image, but I don't think eating cheese all day will help much! Its too unbalanced and anyway, cheese stalls some people.
If you really believe you need to lose some weight, you just need to stick to induction - eat meat, fish, eggs and plenty of veg - you need the fibre and vits and minerals in the veg. Your body will bung up and you'll get ill without them.
Are you drinking enough water?

You could stop with the dieting, as your body doesn't seem to want to lose any more and go for muscle building to resculpt. This would probably redistribute some fat (we need some you know!) and the extra muscle might burn some off. You might end up being slimmer though heavier, as muscle weighs more.

Careful with your health Maria - its good to look fashionably thin but its better to be healthy!

Take care, Jay

I wish you luck as well.. if by luck, you mean not getting sick.

I realize it is possible to be thin, and still be un-toned. In this case, losing more weight will not get rid of it. Toning up the soft areas with yoga or weights, WILL diminish it. Denying yourself nutrition will actually just get you MORE saggy areas, and a whacked-out metabolism that will lead you to GAIN weight. Not what you're looking for, I'm sure!

Sunslyte Fri, Oct-10-03 18:32

Starving yourself is the BEST way to GAIN weight I know -- I've done it, and you can tell where its gotten ME!

There is a very good chance that "fat" you think you have will never go away by dieting -- working out is what you need to look at.

honeybfly Fri, Oct-10-03 19:36

hi maria, if you lose those 5 lbs do you really think
theres going to be much difference on the way you'll look?
I dont think so. I mean people would'nt even be able
to tell that you have lost those 5 lbs, believe me BTDT
and it will only lead you to strive to lose more weight!
thats what happened to me. so the only way you can be happy
is to be satisfied with who you are. and be thankful that you
don't have so much to lose.

xtena Fri, Oct-10-03 22:37

Do the words ANOREXIA NERVOSA mean anything to you? You weigh 105 pounds and you want to starve yourself thinner by eating a few ounces of cheese a day? That sounds like an eating disorder to me.

Don't trust your mirror. People with eating disorders see 'fat' on their bodies where it doesn't actually exist. Exercise will help tone your body, but you need adequate nutritional intake or you will end up doing yourself serious harm.

xtena Fri, Oct-10-03 22:40

P.S. Please don't call your crash diet 'Atkins'. It is doing a serious disfavor to the good doctor. Although Dr Atkins did describe a 'fat fast' in his book, it was intended for overweight people who are truly metabolically resistant, not underweight women trying to starve themselves thin.

Bella22 Sat, Oct-11-03 08:52

I agree with xtena, not only do you not need to lose any more weight, but i suggest couseling,
really not trying to be rude, just want to help

katgurl Sat, Oct-11-03 10:09

Oh my. Maria! You really need something beyond low carb dieting....

Maybe try some sort of work out routine, like Pilates or Curves! You are a woman...you naturally have some fat on your legs and tummy. SOunds like you need to tone up, not lose weight! And low carb dieting isn't a quick answer for those 5 vanity pounds. In now way is Atkins a "Crash Diet!" It is a lifetime way of eating.

If you need someone to talk to regarding what may be an eating disorder, feel free to contact me, as I dealt with that myself as a teenager.

Good luck.

PS...don't eat just cheese ! Have you read the Atkins book?
