June 2024 30-Day Walking Challenge
 
This is the Walking Challenge for June 2024

Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.

Sometimes overlooked as a form of exercise, walking briskly can help you build stamina, burn excess calories, and make your heart healthier.

Set a monthly goal and post your steps daily. Setting a specific goal will make sure that you stay accountable and get enough walking in to make a difference.

You can use a Fitbit or a pedometer app on your mobile phone, for example, to track your daily steps or the distance of your workouts.

I think a new pair of walking/running shoes is in order this month. My old Saucony runners are still adequate for a quick trip to the library or supermarket, but no longer provide the stability and support needed for sustained walking. Suggestions welcome :)

My feet are weird ... wide through the forefoot, narrow at the heel. Think: duck paddle :lol:. That's why I've chosen Saucony in the past, they have a wider toe-box but they "cup" around the heel snugly so there's no riding up and down (hello blisters).

You have described my feet. I now wear Ryka shoes for walking. They are very comfortable and allow plenty of room in the toe box. https://www.ryka.com/

I can recommend New Balance walking shoes. They are very comfortable and provide great support.

I have no shoe suggestions, Doreen. I haven't had runners in a long time. I have decent walking sandals for this time of year, and my work shoes are slip-ons (though they fit the bill for walking for me.)
