For newbies, want instant motivation? get this!!

Hi!

If you want instant motivation, get a digital camera, either if its loaned from a friend or bought at a yard sale, that way you can see your progress without embarrasment of developing the pictures.

Why I say so?

Let me explain, I knew I was losing weight, but no matter how exciting it is to see the scale go down every day or two, you wont realize how good you are doing if you dont visualize your body the way it looks. A number is a number is a number. But just looking at a new you in comparison with the old you makes you say: yay! if I could reach this point, imagine what is my next step now! (dont use the progress pictures to get overconfident and splurge on carbs, use it to set new milestones and admire your progress)

I got very motivated after looking at my pictures, want to know what I mean? See mi pictures the "old" is from past october 20 something 2001, and the new is from just today february 12th 2002. Going down the scale from 209 to 188 might feel very good, but what numbers mean? nothing until you see it for yourself from outside you!.

Here is my attached pic, I dont classify me yet as a success, cause I still got about 60% left to go!

See you later!

You're right on with that Antonio! Too many people let that number dictate how they feel and as the only measure of their progress.

It's great to have visual proof of how far you've come. Congratulations!

Thanks.. now I feel kinda shy... hehe!

hehe, so will we see now digital cameras as diet aids? hehehe as if they needed more marketing ideas...

Thanks for your comments, they make me feel great, btw I am hitting a plateau at the the same weight I quit last time I did low carb, but this time thanks to this support group I will do whatever it takes to go past it!

Definitely just having a support group helps a lot. :D

I will look for ideas in this forum on how to break plateaus.

I miss canada a lot now.. I was in Vancouver for about a week last year in march 21... and then I took the VIA train to tour all Canada... I went to Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Jasper (boy that was cold!), hope to be there soon! I loved Vancouver!

Vancouver is kinda popular here in Monterrey as a destination for college students, everybody goes there to learn english... I went just for the tour... hehe! People is really great.

Well, too much off topic rambling..

Talk to you later!

wow that is so kool! WTG what a huge difference.

You are so right I nknwo I am smaller and my hubby (bless him) keeps telling me how different I look, but you really can't tell without a comparison

Trouble is I don't have any "fattest" photos cos I avoided cameras like the plague :o

great job Antonio!!!
It's wonderful to see that you've lost some weight and trying to hit your goal. I also have a goal of my own, but i do not have a digital camera to record any before or after's. That is great motivation for me to succeed, so thank you.

That really was a great motivator! I can really see the difference in your face, too. Thanks Antonio!

You look great antonio...keep up the good work. Yea, I have a polariod just collecting dust. Now I can use it....lol

Aida Sun, Feb-17-02 01:29

Fantastic!

Hey Antonio!
I love the before and after pic. What a great idea!
But just like Lesley I avoided cameras too. Some friends have remarked on how I've lost weight (31 pounds), and although I really don't see a marked difference yet, just by looking at your pics (you look great!) I know think that there's got to be a marked difference in me.
Thanks for sharing your pics, it gave me incentive to keep on and get to my goal. Seguiremos perdiendo peso!!!

rtjdk2 Mon, Feb-18-02 16:05

Hello slim
you can go out and buy a webcam also. you can take pictures with that also... and they are pretty cheap like around 30-75 dollars depending on the one you want...

tonytiger Mon, Feb-18-02 23:02

digicams

Hi slimshady!

I would recommend first looking for the max resolution possible (but not so much that it makes it extremely expensive, you would probably not use the max res all times)

what you should consider is the media the camera uses, for example the mavica is great since you can always use a cheap 3.5" diskette... and if carrying disks gets too complicated just get the memory stick adapter (depends on your mavica model) that is shapped like a diskette and lets you store the pixs in the memory stick inside it, that way you have the best of both worlds!

Some cameras are very cheap, but the media they use for storing pictures is too expensive, some even require you plug them to the computer to transfer your files and if they dont have a good memory you may lose your pictures in case you run low on batteries...

I love my mavica, because the floppy disk adapter lets me put the memory stick in the floppy drive and access it as if it was a diskette... but a 64mb capacity disk!

You can get a decent used mavica camera in ebay for around $250 or so... take a look and believe me, once you get used to a digital camera, you will wonder why you did not buy it before...

Talk to you later!
Antonio
